Plastic garbage/bags are not needed and they harm the environment by hurting the animals because they think that the plastic bags are foods. It is polluting the streets and making it hard to live society peacefully.

Plastic Garbage on Islands

Many islands are getting polluted and ridding of their natural beauty and beautiful sights because of plastic bags. Take Bali, a very beautiful island in Indonesia. They have many beautiful forests and trees, and that's what you might think about Bali. But there is another side to Bali that many people don't talk about. The island is also filled with trash and waste just lying around, specifically plastic bags. Bali generates 680 cubic meters of plastic waste on a singular day! Less than 5% of these plastic bags actually get properly get recycled. Not just in Bali, there are lots of plastic bags that end up in drains, rivers, seas, and oceans. Some of these plastic bags don't even end up like that, but are instead burned or trashed around.

Climate change affects the whole Earth and not just a specific place or group of people. Fossil fuels are a big source of the Earth heating up. Even if we stopped using fossil fuels completely, the Earth would still continue to heat up for a while. How this affects the environment is more forest fires and 250 species of animals a day going extinct due to the changing climate.

Animals' Loss of Habitat

Animals' Loss of habitat is the biggest reason why many animals are going endangered. Lots of animals and plants are meant to grow or thrive in a specific environment or habitat. The main reason all these environments and habitats are disappearing is because of humans settling in forests, rain-forests, grasslands, and much more. Some Marshlands are drained for the purpose of farming and more profit. Coral Reefs are getting heavily destroyed because of humans messing with the ecosystem. Rain-forests are one of the biggest habitats in the world and they are getting rapidly destroyed. Without their habitats, animals can not live a normal life and many times can not survive, therefore making them go rapidly extinct.

Wildlife Trade

Animals are leaving their natural habitats and lots of their numbers are decreasing because of wildlife trade. Lots of animals are being traded to zoos, given for research, killed for fur clothing, or just straight up taken. Pet dealers separate babies from their mothers. This is related to the environment because the ecosystem keeps the environment running and we are partially destroying that cycle.

Wildfires

Climate change is causing a great increase in wildfires across the world. According to a WorldBook article about climate change, it says, "Climate change is causing an increase in wildfires. The combination of warmer weather and more frequent and severe droughts associated with climate change makes large wildfires more likely, particularly in dry parts of the globe such as Australia and the western United States." This all affects the environment because the environment literally burning in front of our eyes.

Melati & Isabel Wijsen

Melati and Isabel Wijsen are sisters and environmental activists. These 2 teen activists noticed that on their home island of Bali, there were hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of trash that their island was generating. At the time, they were kids and they couldn't do too much about it. So they thought about what they could do to save the island from becoming a junkyard. So they looked towards plastic bags, they researched and they found nothing good about plastic bags and the fact that we don't even need them. They got a group together and they started to pick up hundreds of plastic bags. They were heavily noticed and the Bali airport agreed to let them get signatures to ban all plastic bags from Bali. Eventually the governor of Bali recognized their actions and signed a form that will ban all plastic bags in Bali by 2018.

STOP FOSSIL FUELS! This is one of the biggest solutions we can do. We need to start using renewable energy! Solar panels, hydro power, and much more! There are many alternatives than fossil fuels and they are not reliable as well!

Humans need to preserve the environments more because they are all dying because of human settlement! More profit are destroying the environments and habitats.
