I do not think that the drinking age should be lowered because it will increase the drunk driving accidents.  If we have newer drivers that can now drink it would be a disaster, because our culture is irresponsible.

Alcohol abuse is already a huge worrisome for parents in the US. There are 10.1 million underage drinkers in the US whose ages range from 8th graders to early college students. This is a big deal because college students are taking the leading percentage and its due to the fact that they had already consumed alcohol when they were younger. The amount of alcohol underage drinkers consume is 4 or 5 drinks every 5 months, and the amount of alcohol legal age drinkers consume is 2 or 3 every 9 months. This just proves that if someone consumes alcohol the illegal age, it will create a chain reaction of constant usage that they won’t be able to stop. Aside from over usage, underage drinking increases the risk of STI’s, rape, and car accidents.
