"Selfish"
The adjective that we have chosen for Macbeth is selfish. He is selfish because when his future had been predicted by the weird sisters, his greed for the crown had began to blind him. This had caused his thinking to change, he thought that everyone standing in his way to being a king is a threat. When he knew that he would become king one day, he became impatient and wondered why he wasn't becoming king soon. He knows that King Duncan was still King of Scotland so he had decided to murder him. Eventually he became king. However, he realized that Banquo's sons would become king hence he hired three assassins to have Banquo killed. Initially, he became selfish when Malcolm was the Prince of Cumberland and he knew that he was the heir of the throne but fortunately for Macbeth, Malcolm ran away with Donalbain. In ACT 1 SCENE 4 he mentioned in his solilo"The prince of Cumberland! That is a step

On which I must fall down, or else o'erleap,

For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires;

Let not light see my black and deep desires.

The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be

Which the eye fears, when it is done, to see."
Another part of the story, Malcolm and Donalbain realize that Macbeth is very greedy while living luxuriously.
In ACT 4 SCENE 3, Malcolm states how greedy Macbeth is.
"I grant him bloody,
Luxurious, avaricious, false, deceitful,
Sudden, malicious, smacking of every sin
That has a name."

"Selfish" is the word we chose for Macbeth since in Act 1, Scene 7,Macbeth had a soliloquy stating "If it were done when ''tis done, then 'twere well if were done quickly. If the assasination could travel up the consequence, and catch with his surcease success; that but this blow might be the be-all and the end-all here, but here, upon this bank and the shoal of time, we'd jump the life to come."This indicates that he would gladly put his soul and his after life at risk to do the crime, because he is after power. Meaning he is ready to kill for power.

Lady Macbeth is easily considered as self-seeking. There is nothing she isn't willing to risk to obtain the throne and doesn't bother to put how it will influence the current royal family or all of Scotland for that matter. "And fill me from the crown to the toe top full of direst cruelty; make thick my blood, stop up the the access and passage to remorse, that no compuctious visitings of nature shake my fell purpose" Also she says to Macbeth though art too full of human kindness" she was referring that he cares too much which makes her seem selfish and a crude woman.

The adjective we have chosen for Macbeth is 'ambitious'. The reason we have chosen this adjective is because there are alot of factors which are driven by his ambition. One of example of this takes action in the first few scenes where the witches depict his fate. His ambition is shown when he takes it upon himself to fulfill the prophecy. His ambition also compels him to murder King Duncan.

'The Prince of Cumberland!
