<title> 1. Be Proactive -The teacher should be proactive with his/her classroom management strategies and procedures. The teacher should be aware of potential impacts to learning such as: day of the week, happenings at school (assembly, weather, news events etc..) and schedule changes. Expectations should be made clear and concise at the beginning of the school year. My students are only in my room for a limited amount of time (based on IEP goal). I need to keep this in mind so I can get full use out of the 30-45 minutes that the student has to work. I need to have materials available and lessons ready to go. Students need to know ahead of time what we will be doing and what is expected of them. My “withitness” is critical to the progress of my students. Any delay in instruction is a delay in their making progress or learning. </title>

<title>1. technology to enhance the strategy-The teacher can use a multi-media presentation to present the classroom management strategies that will be utilized throughout the year. I created a PowerPoint to go over on the first day of school and subsequent days thereafter for review. I created clear procedures for how I will pick them up, how they should get to my classroom, when to use the restroom, what to do when the phone rings or intercom comes on, where to get supplies, rules, rewards, and consequences. We use the PowerPoint to review after winter and spring break.</title>

<title>2. Noticing potential problems-The teachers need to be on high-alert throughout the day and in each session. The students should see the teacher engaged in the classroom by walking around the room or by being close (proximity) to the students. The routines and expectations should be established and so anyone not following the procedures or expectations should be sticking out like a sore thumb. The teacher should be constantly patrolling the room with all senses.</title>

<title>2. implementation tips for using the strategy: The teacher should be aware of what students are doing in the classroom. The teacher should be up and moving all around the room using proximity control to monitor the actions of the classroom. The teacher should engage the students in meta-cognition strategies for monitoring their own engagement levels. The teacher could share an engagement rating scale or rubric for students to evaluate themselves on. The teacher should implement classroom management strategies prior to instruction. The teacher should be mindful of schedule changes, or any changes for the day. The teacher can help to prepare students ahead of time with pre-warning of any schedule changes or changes in expectations.</title>
