As for how my identity relates to my specific cultural cohorts and sense of self, I feel that the similarities I share with others is a huge part of that. Turino describes cultural chort, “to refer to social groupings that form along lines of specific constellations of shared habit based in similarities of parts of the self.” (Turino, 111) From this I can say the similarities I share with my friends around me or with others who are close in age to me, make up apart of who I am. Being influenced by the people are around me, for example the similar music we listen to, can be closely related to how I see myself and identify with myself. Lastly, when I read that, “Age is another prominent basis for formation of cultural cohorts”(Turino, 112), it made it clearer in my head that the age is a huge factor, but also that the similarities I share with others my own age, influences me and greatly impacts my self and identity.
