They separate paper, food, light bulbs, and electronics all before they leave their house. They even have to import waste to burn, so they can turn the waste into energy. It is a rule that a recycling station has to be within 300 meters of a residential area. In 2015, Sweden imported 2.3 million tons of waste. A lot of companies have joined the struggle too, like the Optibag company. They have made a machine that can separate colored bags because people throw different things in different colored bags. People throw food in a green bag, paper in a red one, and glass or metal in another.
