Our high-level learners may not show up with "unfinished learning" or persistent learning gaps because of their previous high-level performance.

Making sure that we are teaching on grade level work will ensure that we are better able to accelerate student learning and prepare them for what is ahead. By accelerating students' learning "just in time" we will be able to address student needs on an individual basis. Through use of assessment data, we will be better able to see where we need universal instruction, small groups, or individual support to address unfinished learning.

It is crucial to focus on providing kids with grade level content. With accelerated learning, I like the idea of addressing the gaps “just in time” when the material occurs. Instead of trying to make up for all of the instructional time lost and reteach parts of a different grade level, we are scaffolding to support that grade level learning.
