Passed in 1820, the Missouri Compromise admitted Missouri into the United States as a slave state, and Maine as a free state. It also banned slavery in the Louisiana Purchase lands located north of the 36º 30' line.

No, I do not think that the Missouri Compromise was a lasting solution to the between slave and free states because if a state like California were to join the United States, it would be difficult since it was north and south of the 36º 30' line.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act allowed the settlers to decide whether Kansas would enter the Union as a free state or a slave state. Many activists from both sides flooded in and attempted to influence people one way or another. Many of these clashes led to violence, hence the name "Bleeding Kansas."

I believe that this violence would have occurred either way because if the Missouri Compromise was not repealed, the South would get into many fights with the North because they did not support the Compromise.

This was a legal case in 1857, in which the US Supreme Court ruled that a slave could not be entitled to freedom even after entering a free state. African Americans would never be seen as US citizens, no matter where you were born.

No, I do not think that the Supreme Court can always be trusted, because back then, there were many people who would vote for the master just because he's white, or just because they did not want to vote for a black African American. These debates were largely based on slavery and its extension into different territories.

The Freeport Doctrine helped Douglas because many people needed slavery, and believed that it was helpful. This doctrine, however, was hurtful to his cause because many people also believed that slavery was morally wrong, and was not needed.
