General Oliver Howard

General Oliver Howard showed up to the Nez Perce land when they were not on a reservation and gave the Indians 30 days to move onto a reservation and if not they did not move Howard said "If you let the time run over one day," he warned "the soldiers will be there to drive you onto the reservation." He said. The Indians didn't have a choice they had to move to the reservation, which caused an argument between the formal chief "Toohoolhoolzote" and General Oliver Howard.

Howard: "You know very well that the government has set apart a reservation, and that the Indians must go in it."

Toohoolhoolzote: "Who are you to tell me what to do? What person pretends to divide the land?"

Howard: "I am that man. I stand here for the president. My orders are plain and will be executed."

Toohoolhoolzote: "We came from the earth, and our bodies must go back to earth, our mother."

Howard: "I don't want to offend you religion, but you must talk about practicable things. Twenty times over I heard that the earth is your mother. . . . I want to hear no more, but come to business at once."

Toohoolhoolzote: "Who can tell me what I must do in my own country? Are you the Great Spirit? Did you make the world? Did you make the sun?"

Howard got sick of arguing and just decided to tell the Nez Perce that they have 30 days to leave their land or else Howard and his men will force them out onto the reservation without them willing.

Oklahoma City was a place where multiple reservations were located. Oklahoma City is where the former Nez Perce tribe that had to walk/move an extra 1000 miles because the General Oliver Howard decided it would be better for them to walk/travel those extra miles on foot since the Nez Perce were late on moving. Joseph demanded that the Nez Perce were originally supposed to travel safely to a reservation in Idaho, but Sherman threw a fit "The Indians are prisoners, and their wishes should not be consulted" he said.

Sherman wanted to send a chilling signal to any other Indian groups that might be thinking about standing up to the U.S. Which resulted in the Nez Perce walking an extra 1000 miles, not only that, but the price of Oklahoma land that they were dumped on was a hot, buggy piece of reservation land. Which is known as today's Oklahoma City.

The Grass Hopper Invasion were all over the plains, from Texas in the south all the way North to the Dakota. This invasion caused a huge loss of crops, buildings, etc. These grass hoppers pretty much ate anything. This invasion was so bad that each step you were killing dozens of the grasshoppers, the ground was covered some of the spots were about three to four inches deep. Trees along the creek were loaded with so many grasshoppers that large limbs of trees were broken off. This had a big impact for a lot of states throughout Southern, Texas, North to Dakota and other states.

Bison were an essential food source for the Native Americans, the white men would begin to start killing the bison for fun, and just leave the dead corps on where they shot them. They also did this because they wanted to "kill off" the Native Americans, the bison was a very very very important source for the Native Americans. This caused most of the Native Americans to go low on food, and start to go hungry. The Native Americans started to migrate little by little to search for food sources. They also would send out "warriors" or other types of hunters that would help hunt for food. This caused the U.S military/troops to start moving them onto reservations. The white men were also killing the bison for the belts, and clothing etc. The bison were also essential for the Native Americans because they would also use the bison skin/fur/leather for their clothing. The bison skin/fur/leather were very important for the Native Americans because of the warmth that the skin/fur/leather would provide.nc

Horses were essential in the Wild West times, and throughout history because horses were used as a way of transportation. Horses were also used for agriculture, hunting, and warfare. Horses helped make transportation faster than by wagon, or on foot. Also, horses would be used to hunt which would let hunters cover more ground, and pursue prayers. Another use was for agriculture and the horses would plow fields, which would cause better crops, and larger harvests. The horses were also used to pull wagons, carriages, etc.

Horses were used for warfare because they helped with swift attacks and maneuvers and pulled in chariots and equipment for the military, and U.S. soldiers when people couldn't do it/weren't fast enough to do it. Horses were also a big resource for the Native Americans, as they would also use horses for the same thing.

Let us take up arms immediately and be free!"

This quote was said when the Sons spent the rest of the night throwing stones at the tax collector's houses. They also dragged a tax agents boat out of the water and lit it on fire, in front of John Hancock's house.

"No taxation without representation."

This quote was said during the time when King George was taxing colonists and other people for no reason. This quote basically means "Were not paying!"

Nat love was a cowboy, but he had colored skin. This made people look at him differently and underestimate him. He had to "apply" in order to be a cowboy, the boss of the whole company had him ride the wildest horse that they had. This horses name was "Good Eye." Nat Love swung up onto him "the beast" then the horses began with a jolt. "This proved the worst horse to ride I had ever mounted in my life." said Nat Love. "The beast" kept kicking and twisting trying to throw him off, but Nat love stayed on. When Good Eye finally got tired Nat Love hopped off of Good Eye. "They had taken me for a tenderfoot, pure and simple." Said Nat Love. After this ride Nat Love was a cowboy
