 Parnaíba, the second largest city in  Piaui, is home to great cultural wealth, which preserves the city's history. In Parnaiba there are some tourist spots that represent different aspects of the local population. 
 In particular, located in the center of the city, is "The cashew tree of Humberto de Campos". Humberto de Campos, from Maranhão from the city of Miritiba, now named after him, arrived in Parnaíba in 1896, planting cashew trees soon after. 
 Three years later he went to São Luís and then to Belém and Rio de Janeiro. He was a journalist and one of the great Brazilian writers in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He left an extensive and varied work, including chronicles and humorous tales, as well as refined sonnets, which made him one of the most popular authors of his time. The cashew tree he planted in Parnaíba served as inspiration for the short story “A childhood friend”

Lagoa do Portinho is located in the municipality of Parnaíba, on the coast of the state of Piauí. Around the lagoon there are dunes, whose beauty attracts many visitors. The site, which is considered a natural monument by ICMBio, has a good tourist structure, with easy access via BR-343.
