A GMO is genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.

1. More natural foods meaning, more kinds of healthier food to have instead of the ones with tons of products
2. May have fewer pesticides. An example, Bt-corn is a GMO crop that has gene added from Bacillus thuringiensis. This gene causes the corn to produce a protein that kills many pests and insects, helping to protect the corn from damage.
3. More nutrients like more vitamins or minerals

1. can offer many advantages in costs and nutrition, but some experts worry that they carry health risks, as well.
2. There is concern that the protein products of introduced genes may be toxic or allergenic to certain individuals.
3. Increase antibiotic resistance. When scientists insert new DNA into a plant cell, they will often add in an additional gene that makes the modified cell resistant to antibiotics.

GMO crops have many advantages for your health, such as greater nutritional value and fewer pesticides. Ethics and impacts are potential harm to human health, damage to the environment and the 'unnaturalness' of the technology. Also on a good note, GMOs have helped farmers reduce their environmental footprint by allowing them to use fewer inputs and enabling a shift to reduced tillage.
