Instead of making formal lesson obs compulsory, allow trhs the flexibility to partner up, plan and conduct open classroom for either dept or school wide. Or teachers can invite RO and SL to observe lessons as a team or group for PLC/PD. Organise groups to participate in Excelfest or national platforms for exposure.

CCAs shld be cut to once a week only. To ensure fairness, all trches stay back when there is CCA to discuss their character and develop the students as a whole. Have a structure to share best practices across all CCAs.

SLs shld interview trches individually to hear their honest opinion and get to know their backgrounds. Do the same for students. Hear from them personally and implement some of their ideas as school wide programmes or activities. Have a CCA fair or biennial school performing arts concert.

The hidden places of the school such as labs, special rooms, lockers, classroom cupboards are covered with rubbish and dust. Students are cleaning only half of what they see. Instead of celebrating cny, conduct a school wide spread cleaning where every corner is dusted and disinfected. pls get the OSO to help as teachers can only do so much.

Trches shld be given the flexibility to work from home if there are no reasons for them to be in school. Unlike some students, we are generally very responsible. Cut down on unnecessary meetings and send emails instead because we need ample rest to recharge for the next school day. However, I appreciate the effort SLs put in to engage us.

I'm not sure if this ought to fall into CCA or enrichment.

There's a lot to learn even when working at McDonalds' and values that can be cultivated. What if for such a programme, there are teachers, vetted parents or vetted alumni who can serve as mentors or coaches who meet with student participants periodically to support them in making connections between their work experience, school experiences and personal growth?

Time to formulate School Identity and engage Alumni?

One of the strengths of "elite schools" I've noticed may come from their Alumni. The strength of network between the School Board and Alumni is strong, which has cultivated strong school culture and identity over the years - unfortunately, though, reinforced also by (generally) shared religion.

At this stage, Edgefield has come a long enough way with an adequate quantity of Alumni to begin exploring/identifying what edge we have cultivated in our students - one that has helped students achieve or pursue their aspirations?

Would it perhaps be time now to start getting the Alumni involved in formulating Edgefield's school identity? And perhaps even getting the students involved in doing so?

Can we explore removing the 2.45pm dismissal time for teachers and allowing teachers the option to leave after end of last lesson for the day to continue working at home.

At department or staff level, to consider having more open conversations about engaging students with special/higher needs or values inculcations in IP lessons.

Students with higher needs may require specific intervention plans which individual subject teachers may not be able to handle alone.

Some higher needs students can be identified at staff level and teachers managing those students may be given opportunities to exchange ideas or offer support to one another.

Reimagining Assemblies

Afternoon fortnightly assemblies are rare opportunities for students to gather and experience ‘out of the classroom’ learning experiences. To allow students richer learning and perhaps even cultivating stronger school identity, we can have more assembly sessions in the hall. We can invite sports personalities (every sports personality under sportssg needs to fulfil some form of VIA), Internet personalities, Radio DJs (987 School invasion), rock concerts, ACT3 performances, dance. Something that students can look forward to every fortnight.

Open classrooms

Perhaps, open classrooms to demonstrate certain pedagogies can be very useful. Such open classrooms invites can be sent to staff from other departments so that we can see how various IP departments utilise the different pedagogical appreaches to engage their students.

I, for one, would definitely be interested in seeing CCE open classrooms to see how we as CCE teachers can apply the various facilitation strategies to establish a safe and inclusive atmosphere,

Protected afternoon

Protect 2 afternoons a week for teachers? (Doesn't have to be the same 2 days for everyone)

Hard to find time to prepare lessons, lesson materials, mark, plan programmes etc. if we have late days almost everyday. Our free periods may not be sufficient or consecutive to allow us to do work. Really trying not to bring home work this year.

Can consider whether HBL days that coincides with the festive season can be scheduled after rather than b4 the PH instead? It's not that we want a long weekend. But it is because the reality is that festive familial commitments tend to run late into the night. Having HBL the next day could be much appreciated by both staff and students.

Possible to try as far as possible not to have any school programmes or commitments during the one week March or Sep break? I think it is healthy to protect the entire week for the entire school population to recharge.

2 out of 5 days is currently "protected". I understand that if there are no other commitments, staff can take the other days off too but sometimes we are not told whether we are free or not until much later.

If there has to be programmes scheduled during this , staff (and students) should be told of their commitments at the start/1st half of Term 1 or 3 so that we can plan accordingly.

CCA exchange?

Maybe we can do CCA exchange during down time so students can know more about what their peers in different CCA do?

Or if it is possible, conduct CCA exchange with other schools? This might be fun learning experience for the students.

Roving member?

Some committees are busy through the year and some might only have intensive work during certain period. Maybe we can have a pool of roving members/firefighters who can step in to help other committees when it’s their committee downtime? But of course just give credit and acknowledge their contribution for helping out.

TWA+ in the ministry broadens perspectives, as seen with Bernard's experience. Why not implement something similar internally? Learning journeys or short attachments across committees, CCAs, or departments can offer insights into challenges, good practices, potential solutions, and a deeper understanding of work processes.

Whenever CCA groups go for competitions- the rest of the school population is not made aware except for some prominent sports groups. Some posting on the TVs or a brief announcement during assembly could be done to make these school representatives feel proud to participate in such events?

For sports participation, could some customized school cheers help to build up stronger school spirit when the students use them during the games?
