Students responded with enthusiasm and showed high levels of participation. They were particularly interested in the real-life applications of colloquial expressions and appreciated the variety of examples provided. The digital tools helped them visualize and contextualize phrases, making the learning experience more memorable.

Overall, this was a well-executed lesson that successfully introduced students to colloquial English in an interactive and student-centered way.

Aligned with the digital age, I personally agree with the integration of listening lessons with digital learning tools like YouGlish/ ChatGPT etc. It significantly enhances student engagement and motivation. It also offers personalised learning paths, and immediate feedback. This leads to improved comprehension, better retention, and increased confidence in understanding spoken language.

Overall, the TD-BU Model introduced by the group has given a clearer understanding on conducting an effective listening lesson focusing of informal conversational language (colloquial language). This teaching model/ approach is applicable to intermediate and advance learners in a classroom too. I do believe, teaching colloquialisms can make me feel like a bit of a mystery, especially to someone learning a new language or encountering a different dialect which is far away from the Malaysian context. However, that makes learning English fun and interesting!
