In saying that, all assessments are underpinned by what is happening outside of the school and within the school. The kind of assessments done teach the skills of evaluating material/sources for own opinion and feedback development.

The development of such skills enables the learner to work on and develop their OWN authentic voice in terms of developing their own opinion on matters in the real world.

The conversations that come out of the real world material are all authentic - real world problems with some real world solutions. By entertaining and welcoming different opinions and views, the learning becomes richer and more authentic.

No LO lesson is without a real life context and is based on lived experience, either from others pasts or their future.

This can mark the end point of a journey of ideas that has been undertaken though an interaction between people or alone.

Sometimes, these epiphanies can be the product of a long journey of a string of ideas.

This engages the learners, and helps them to consider things from different perspectives. It forces us to face uncomfortable things like racism, sexism etc head-on and find ways of tackling these issues in an innovative way to look for lasting solutions.

This equips learners with the skills to identify reliable information in the modern world.

Today, the LS boys had a talk on evolutionary biology and being able to see their practical skills learnt throughout school and analysing of data being published and spoken about in real life and in such a forum was really beneficial. It made it real for them and they linked it so well to their current topic in the subject.

Linking theory to practice can help students internalise the idea for long-term retention.

This is created by having lessons that are not solely theoretical or practical, but linked, where ideas are explored in both ways.
