1. Economic (2)
An economic effect of silver is the rise in the economy in China. The Chinese exported fine goods such as silk and porcelain, in which were in high demand in Europe. The Chinese's main currency was in silver coins which was mainly supplied by the Portuguese. However, the money mainly flow to China for the Chinese did not import goods from Europe nor did the government use the taxes for the people. In document four, Fitch observed that the Chinese produced fine goods to trade for silver. This displays the how wealth flows to China and was maintained there for the Chinese did not import any Portuguese's goods. Additionally, in document seven, Qiaoyuan stated that silver coins were used to trade for popular goods sugar and porcelain, displaying that silver was the main currency in China. D' Avenant, in document eight, viewed trade with Asia as beneficial and supported trade with Asia for the Europeans needed the fine goods which are found in only Asia even if it is a one way trade where only one party benefit from the interaction.
2. Based on the documents given, silver can be seen to have a far more negative effect than positive as relying on it as payment for all expenses can leave countries cornered. Socially, the merchants who traded with silver already, benefited greatly from the global silver trade.

In the mid 16th century to the 18th century, when examining social and economic effects resulting from the global flow of silver, primarily from the European colonies in the Americas and the Caribbean to China. A significant change resulted from silver lead them to disband previous ways of commerce by replacing it with silver causing a social downfall to farmers. China's empire began to become corrupt with high taxes and causing less labor to occur for cultivation. Thus in the process farmers got so desperate to obtain silver so they had to trade their crops for more silver to pay the national taxes and in the process lost money in supporting their farm.

Economically, the flow of silver caused a change in currency--one that was based solely on silver.

The global flow of silver during the 1500's to the 1700's was massively disproportionate as good from Asia, such as silk perfume, gold, and porcelain were exchanged for nothing but silver. Despite this large intake of silver, there was never enough to carry our necessary duties by all people, as the circulation of wealth was not present. The greed for wealth leads to heavy emphasis on the monetary value of silver and the increasing gap between social class, as there is a lack of silver for those working in middle and lower classes leading to less production.
