At the Stonewall Inn in New York, on the 28th of June 1969 communities gathered together to fight for equality regardless of gender or sexuality.

From The Stonewall Inn: "To this day, the LGBT community around the globe commemorates that historic time here at The Stonewall Inn by holding Pride Parades. Those celebrations of Gay pride are to recognize how far we have come, to remember those less fortunate who came before us and to remind those who may have grown complacent, how far we still must go to achieve true equality."

I'm looking to find a video that discusses what happened that night, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Trying to communicate how we feel or understand what someone is trying to tells us can be difficult, but a good place to start is to understand the language. Sometimes it feels like there are too many words to describe who you are but this is a good place to start.

It is a word bank with important words to help us talk about gender, sex and sexuality. When in doubt about what something means check back here. Or have a read over it just now and expand your vocabulary.

Some words might seem complicated so the best thing you can do is ask!

We all have moments of self doubt but for some of us we are left questioning who we really are.

We can use this gingerbread person model to explore things like gender, sex and sexuality.

How it works:

Each arrow is a continuum which means you can place your self anywhere on it. At one end we have people who don't relate to this at all and at the other end people who feel like this describes them. Sort of like a scale of completely disagree - disagree - agree - completely agree. You can place yourself wherever you feel like you belong. And you can can completely agree with more than one statement or not feel like any of these statement describe who you are - there is no correct answer.

I recommend you draw out your own gingerbread person and try to place yourself on the scales.
