• When the battle stoped, Captain Stewart comfort him and explain to him Captain Nichols dead and said to him he would be proud of him.

• Joey went to sleep with Topthorn.

-they fougth and in a short time he realidad they weigth he was carrying was no longer there

-he ran forward and captain Stewart got closer with Topthorn and took joey to the battlefield

-they won but lost more than a quarter of the people and horses

-captain stewart told joey that captain nicholls would be so proud of him

  • What he did was go to where everyone was going and at one point he felt that someone grabbed him, it was Captain Stewart

    Joey found Topthorn was always by him and would breathe his courage into Joey to support him.


    Joey compares Captain Nicholls with Albert in a positive way.


    They arrive to France by ship, they saw people wounded.


    Joey is taken to the front lines with other horses to face his first battle.


    Captain Nicholls died.


    Joey felt a terrible sadness and Captain Stewart helped him feel better.

  • at first Joey saw the wounded, he knew that none was prepared

  • as they landed they had to walk a lot of hours until they find the enemy

  • they stop every hour to drink water

  • as they were near the enemy they heard the shots of the guns and saw the orange flashes all around them

  • they started trotting their first battle

  • not knowing what is going to happen

  • as Joey was nervous, capitan nichols was cheering him up

  • when they started trotting, when they barely heard the shots, Joey realise that capitan nichols was not above him any more, but he keep fighting

  • finally the won the first battle, but they lost the quarter of the squadron

  • capitan stewart said to Joey to hat capitan nichols would be proud of him

  • finally Joey went to sleep with Topthorn

  • as they were travelling, Topthorn teach Joey a lot of things.
