Would this time be more effective if it were available every day for 15 minutes?

In a hands-on, lab-style class, students need the full classtime to work. RR schedule (and Assembly schedule each week) really cuts into that work time. Could we go back to a full, regular schedule and teachers that want should build "catch-up time" into their own weekly schedule? I need/want a full, regular schedule.

As a counselor, whenever I have a kid struggling with D/F grades, the parents appreciate the time given and urge their child(ren) to use the time. They often ask if it can be offered more days in the week because they like the idea of it.

Can we give more structure to this and make everyone spend 5 minutes walking kids through checking their grades & missed assignments in Synergy and Canvas? Or, would Assembly Schedule time be more appropriate? I find my freshmen don't have a clue when/where/how to look half the time and even if they DO know, they don't understand the importance.

We are not currently meeting the requirement of the new contract which mandates 60 minutes a week of intervention. by the time a student gets here and also has to go back to their original class, 20ish minutes is not enough time to say, make up an essay or exam.

It's hard to put a lot of energy into changing things this year when we have a major change next year: Every Monday will be 2 hour early release. I move that we make Monday's 30 minute class sessions an intervention class for every period. So, no new instruction on Mondays. We only have them for 30 minutes, so that could be our intervention time: time for them to make up msising work, or extension time for them to explore.

My students enjoy the time to figure out their week and get things done. It's a time when we can talk about progress and how their classes are going!

Two things: On Monday morning is not the day kids are ready or prepared to do make-up or retake work. The short class of 40 minutes cuts into the amount of material that can be covered.

Move RR to another day in the week to mitigate the length of classes. 40 minutes is not enough time. I almost feel like we have only 4 days of class.

Having RR during the same class period EVERY WEEK, is unfair and there are inequities for student supervision. Teachers with prep during 2nd period get an extended prep.

In order to repair the inequities between teacher supervision, it is important to rotate the class period that we attach RR.

I want to bring up the issue with having 2nd period teachers expected to supervise students during 2nd period an additional 35 minutes on Mondays along with an additional 40 minutes on Fridays (for assembly time). This is a unfair supervision expectation!

It is important for all teachers to supervise RR. For the past 2 years, teachers with 2nd period prep have an extended prep on Mondays. This year, 2nd period teachers with prep have also received an additional prep time on Fridays as well. Equitable supervision MUST be addressed.

District Mandates/Parent Desires

How do we give more time to teachers to teacher but also fit in District mandates such as Character Strong, various surveys etc. as well as more time to students, within the 6 hour day, to get time and support. Many don't drive and can't come before/after school or have obligations after school such as work or babysitting of younger siblings.

I'm excited about the opportunity to talk about how we can get a longer intervention time - the adjustment this year has made it really difficult for students to make good use of the very short time on Mondays. Many students have also said that they do not like a Monday intervention. There is a requiremen to have 60 minutes of intervention time during the week - does SEL time count as intervention or is this specific to academic intervention?

Can we make Rapid Response a part of Lunch?

I just think that Mondays are already going to be 'screwy', so can we just make it an extra carrot and let kids have it during Lunch too? Skyview did something similar I think

It would be helpful to have more time during Rapid Response, or an added support time during the week. I try to utilize this time to meet with students on my caseload who I don't see on a daily basis, but they are often busy taking care of work for other classes. It would be great if students with IEPs could have this resource to connect with their case managers.
