The short passage "Story of an hour" is about Mrs. Mallard, who has heart disease, who recently discovered that her husband had tragically just passed away. In that moment she went up to her bedroom, and instead of being in sorrow she was optimistic thinking of the pain that her husband had put her through, Whispering "Free, free, free." Only now understanding that she is now free from the bonds that her husband had grasped on her. Her sister ,Josephine, comes up to the room to check on her, and get her to come down stairs. Mrs. Mallard goes down stairs to only within that instant have her husband walks through the door. Overwhelmed by this forlorn misunderstanding, Her heart gives in and collapses going where she thought her husband was a couple seconds prior.
