3. Repetition: Is a technique in which a sound word or phrase is repeated to further emphasize "While I weep-While i weep!"(line 18)
4. Tone: Expression of writers attitude toward a subject, Poe is known for his gothic touch on his writes and his attitude in this is no exception, the tone of this is frustration and despair such as "surf-tormented shore" (line 13)
5. Personification: is when a nonhuman object is given human characteristics "surf -tormented shore" (line13)

That dreams cause pain as well as hope. the Poem consists of 2 stanzas of 12 lines each. Poe had such a rough and sad past ,as both of his parents left his life early on. He did not have an easy life as he could not finish school because his caretaker would not give him the proper amount to make it through school. I believe he wrote this to show how depressed he was, as he was only happy through dreams. With every good dream made reality worsen and set a never ending cycle of sorrow. He wrote it in his early years . But most of his works were not published until later on.

Containing two separate but ultimately connected scenes. The first scene is in the point of view of a single person who is parting from their lover.  While the second stanza places the narrator on a beach while trying to hold on to his grasp of a handful of sand. The two scenes compliment eachother very well how it moves from a tranquil, calming farewell to a more passionate second half. This poem was first published in 1849 consisting of 24 lines divided up into 2 stanzas. Poe had lost his beloved early on so early on in the poem the narrator is saying farewell to his love is no surprise that it is based of his own experiences.
