That Tesla is doing this by selling cars and providing the recharging as their secondary service... So a charge will be secondary to the parking - which will be the primary service

And even as a nerd, fine, I don't mind having a folder full of charging apps on my phone, but I loathe standing there for 5 minutes in the rain or gale force winds trying to scan a QR code, failing, typing in the number by hand, or trying to get a solid enough signal, or waiting for some network's map to load etc. Contactless and a clearly displayed price should be mandated everywhere including retrofitting IMO.

I paid for an exterior 3-pin plug to be installed and bought a heavy duty cable protector. I have been charging like this almost every week for almost a year. I have a heavy-duty extension cable which I sometimes use if I can't park straight outside, but it's always the EVSE that goes through the cable protector.

This is my Plan B for charging away from home. Plan A was scuppered when the local council, who were to have put a charge point in a nearby car park where I could have left the car overnight, changed their plans and put it much further away. Plan C is to drive off to one of the rapid chargers and sit there waiting for the car to charge up. That not only wastes a lot of time but also uses up valuable electrons on the round trip.

CCS supports this in theory. Not seen any sign of the charger manufacturers or the ev makers sorting this out.

Until we see all chargers being as easy to use as a self serve fuel pump where you can just pay with your credit card everywhere, charging networks will get hate, and will add an extra barrier to deter the average person from wanting to switch to electric. Take a look on these forums at the general thoughts people share about Ecotricity for example. That basically sums up everything you shouldn't do with a charging network.
