Who was Irena Sendler?

Irena Sendler was a polish social worker that was born on February 15, 1910. During the Warsaw attack by Germans, Irena set out to find and protect endangered Jewish children. She saved many children's lives by offering food and shelter. but was later arrested and tortured and questioned on her role in the zegota. The zegota was the group she was in that helped hide the Jewish children. She didn't give answers and was given the death penalty as a result. Irena was familiar with a guard and bribed them to get her out of the prison so she was able to escape right before her death. Many years later after the war a group of girls started a "life in a jar" movement after hearing of Irena s courageous acts during the war. This brought attention to her actions and Irena later received a courage award. Her story is now told all over the world even though she passed away in 2008. Her story still stands and her bravery lives on through the lives shes saved and people shes impacted.

This book is based on Irenas life and the title is off of the "life in a jar" movement that was made by 4 girls who had to study irena for a project and their was almost no information on her. After the spread of her actions, their are now thousands of websites where you can read and learn about her. This book is on of many dedications to help share her story

I chose this song to show that saving all of the kids she had to be brave and determined. Even after getting arrested she fought on and escaped this song to me stood out as Irena showed her passion and determination to be unstoppable to her goal of saving the kids
