The Uzbekistan national football team was defeated by Qatar in the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup. The match, which took place on February 3 in Qatar's El Khaur, ended with a score of 1:1 in regular time and 3:2 in the penalty shootout.

From the first minutes, the current champions and hosts of the tournament began to exert pressure and created several dangerous moments. The first goal came in the 27th minute. Striker Hassan Al-Khaidos walked on the right flank and shot, the ball touched the hand of goalkeeper Utkir Yusupov and flew into the goal. The auto goal was recorded on Yusupov.

After a missed goal, the Uzbeks ran forward and organized a number of attacks. Oston Urunov shot at Aziz Turgunboev, who ran into the penalty area, but Qatar's defense was able to repel the danger.

In the second half, Uzbekistan increased pressure. Midfielder Abbosbek Faizullayev forced the opponent's goalkeeper to run out, who committed a foul on him and received a yellow card.

On the 59th minute, Odiljon Hamrobekov equalized by scoring into the right corner of the goal.

In the 77th minute, the head coach of Uzbekistan Srechko Katanets received a yellow card after he emotionally reacted to the referee's decision not to fix a foul on the national team player.

In the main time, the parties no longer scored goals and the game went into extra-times, but even there the teams could not change the score.

In the penalty shootout, the players of Qatar were more accurate - 3:2.

In the first half, Utkir Yusupov scored against his own goal, but after the break Odiljon Khamrobekov equalized the situation for the Uzbeks (1:1).

The Qatari team smiled at fortune in the penalty shootout, although after three shots the Uzbeks were ahead (pen. 2:1). The current winner of the Asian Cup was a step away from being eliminated from the home tournament, but Al-Brake and Pedro Miguel implemented their attempts, and in the end the opponent had only two shots out of five accurate (pen. 3:2 in favor of Qatar).
