         <description><![CDATA[<div>1839: Edmond Becqueral discovers voltage is created when light hits a certain material. <br>1883: Charles Fritts makes a solar cell that has a 1% efficiency (made from selenium and a thin layer of gold) <br>1954: David Chaplin, Calvin Fuller, and Gerald Pearson create Photovoltaics  (turn 4% to 11% efficiency) <br>1955: solar cells are sold commercially at $25 per cell (if sold at modern day they would cost $4 million) <br>1985: many things are being solar powered like cars, communication satellites, spacecraft and commercial buildings <br>2001: Australia starts to use solar power has a main energy source<br>2015: almost all of Australia runs off of solar energy, and is one of the cheapest forms of energy. <br><br></div>]]></description>
