It re-established the importance of technology within the curriculum- it is critical that technologies are compulsory- students need technological knowledge for their future as it is increasingly incorporated into jobs and everyday life.

Realising that VR is applicable to traditionally explicit-teaching based subjects such as Maths was interesting. It is also interesting to see how technology can be integrated into every subject, as opposed to simply being taught as a separate subject.

Initially, I thought there would be issues with access and equity regarding VR. However, I learnt in the tutorial the various alternatives for students to experience VR in learning. E.g. making your own VR set out of cardboard and using a smart phone, instead of using an actual VR set.

This weeks tutorial helped me see that there are many types of technology which could be innovative and beneficial to a classroom lesson such as virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality. Although we have learnt about the first two a lot - I think that the mixed reality would be really interesting to see in class.

This week's H5P module let me know more about the Technology in the Australian Curriculum. Design & technologies and digital technologies focus on developing different ways of thinking of students. I learnt a lot when looking into how to use the Triple E framework to evaluate VR engagement in classrooms, it's important to assess whether the use of VR extend, enhance and engage learning when teachers design a related activity to improve teaching and learning.
