This article goes in depth explaining 6 behavioral types of leadership theories. I enjoyed this article because it offers a list of behavioral traits on what makes a leader effective. After reading through the 8 steps I found myself reflecting on my own teaching and the motivation I instill on my students in my classroom. Persistence and consistency is key to implementing and setting high expectations. As a leader it is important to continue to motivate your campus through your accomplishments and through weaknesses.

http://life11.org/2014/12/06/6-leadership-theories/

If the link to the article does not open, right click and open in a new page.

I wanted to share this article simply because it states how leaders should effective collaborate with their teachers through Professional Learning Communities. I referred to this article in my last course and it was a really good read that I saved. As a leader it is important to set aside time to reflect with your teachers and allow them the time to collaborate with their team. This year at my campus we have really initiated PLC to reflect on student academics and set goals not only for ourselves, but for our students.
http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/apr13/vol70/num07/How-Do-Principals-Really-Improve-Schools%C2%A2.aspx

I have used this article many times to refer back to on my communication skills when speaking with parents. Effective communication is key when building positive relationships with parents. This article is an easy read that gives key points and examples on how to communicate with parents. As educators it is important to value the families that we serve. At times it can be difficult to communicate with parents in certain situations so understanding the right dialogue and body language is one way for administrators, teachers and parents to feel comfortable to have these open discussions.

http://www.ldonline.org/article/28021/

This article discusses the changes in education and the overall realistic classroom. As educators and administrators it is important to be open to change. Every student we encounter and every year we add to our educational careers, we will be evolving around our students. As educators it is important to embrace the change.

This article relates to how important it is as an administrator to hold the responsibility to organize the school. I enjoyed this article because it discusses simple tasks that may go overlook as a campus and not discussed with significance. My current campus goes through a lot of changes throughout the year and the changes really do hurt not only the students but the teachers as well. Being organized with schedules down to how to group students this article really does touch base on everything needed to run a well organized campus. http://www.ascd.org/publications/books/102109/chapters/School-Organization.aspx
