         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Born</strong>- xxx x, 1475 (actual date of birth is unknown)<br><strong>Death</strong>- January 3, 1543<br><strong>Place of Birth</strong>- Castile, Spain<br><strong>Years explored-</strong> 1502-1543<br><strong>Purpose-</strong> He was first sent to Mexico from Spain to arrest Hernan Cortez for treason. Cortez was laying siege on the Aztecs and Cabrillo was meant to arrest him. Instead. Cabrillo actually joined with Cortez and conquered the Aztecs. He was then sent to explore the southern regions of Mexico like Guatemala and El Salvador. A few years later, he was sent on expedition to the western coast of North America. He had become the first person to explore the western coast, including the west coast of Mexico and some of modern day California.<br><strong>What did he discover-</strong> Cabrillo was the first person to explore the western coast of North America (Mostly mexico and California).<br><strong>Interesting Facts-</strong><br><strong>1)</strong> After he had conquered the Aztecs, he became a well known conquistador and enslaved many indigenous peoples. He made men work in mines and fields, and the women and children did house chores.<br><strong>2)</strong> Cabrillos first mission was to Mexico where he was supposed to arrest Hernan Cortez. Instead of arresting him, Cabrillo joined his conquest against the Aztecs and succeeded.<br><strong>3)</strong> While he was a conquistador, he used his enslaved peoples to make his fortune in gold mining. He forced the men to mine gold in mines across the regions of Mexico. Part of his fortune also derived from his conquering of the Aztecs, where he shared their wealth with Hernan Cortez.</div>]]></description>

They found a bay and called it Sao Bras. They also explored a lot of the Indian Ocean.<br>Interesting Facts:<br>1. He named the southernmost tip of Africa, Cabo days tormentas&nbsp; because of the heavy storms.<br>2. He explored from 1513-1532. His purpose for sailing was because as a boy he heard tales of the new world and was seized by lust for time and adventure. Francisco discovered the Pacific Ocean and conquered Peru. <br>Some interesting facts are:<br>1. Arrested Balboa under orders of peararis.<br>2. He founded the capital of Lima<br>3. On his third voyage he discovered present day Rio de Janeiro and Rio de Plata. Amerigo decided to explore because he was fascinated after meeting Christopher Columbus.
