Loved this book because it covers a lot of US history without being dry or boring. He writes in such a conversational way that any one can understand and connect to it. Plus, he calls each of us to acknowledge our own roles when it comes to combating racism.

Really enjoyed this book, and so far, I'm enjoying the sequel too. The author invests so much detail into the lives of Bella and Edward, and I just found out the author has the first book in Edwards point of view, so that should be fun to read! Throughout the story, the author puts in detail to tie the entire story together, but leaves out some parts, so she can continue to write more. The Twilight saga, in my opinion, is a good way to spend your (extended) vacation.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

I liked this book because the author manages to take very sensitive topics such as religion, lust, self-acceptance and make it relateable. I finished this book a while ago and really liked the book because, like I said, it is relateable and as a teen it is very stressful having to meet all of the expectations set on you and I am extremly glad I read it. It isn't a hard read but give it a shot.

Gio:)

Hazel feels that Gus really understands her. They both share a few things in common and love for books, especially Grace's touchstone, "An Imperial Affliction" by Peter Van Houten. When Gus scores an invitation to meet the reclusive author, he and Hazel begin their adventure of their brief lives.
- Luisa

I really liked this book it was interesting, fun, and always made me wanting to keep reading more. It is about Annie Mathers, a teenager whose parents were country music starts but died, and Clay Coolidge, a teenage country star and heart-throb. Annie has a gift with music from her parents. Clay gets sent out to recruit Annie for his summer tour because he becomes a liability for his label. Lots of drama plays out, but also the chemistry between Clay and Annie on the stage is off the charts. When Clay makes a dumb decision it changes everything. This book was truly amazing and I loved reading it! I recommend anyone to read it, it has a lot of real life topics and situations, but it was really fun reading it.
-Alora

Seryna Payne (4/21/2020)
I loved this book, mostly because the description and scenery is very intense and it makes you feel like you're right in the cottage of Honour (or Beauty - her chosen name), but also because the story is very familiar but takes suprising turns. This story is a retelling of the story of Beauty and the Beast, and follows a lot of the same plot line, except in this story, Honour is the main character. When she is a little girl, she doesn't understand the concept of the word "honour," so she asks everyone to call her Beauty instead. Although, she grows to be ugly, unlike all of her very beautiful sisters, as she tells herself the world would not be losing much without her. This is why she sacrifices herself for her family, to make sure they won't be harmed, to venture deep into the woods to find the Beast's castle. I think this would be a great book for anyone who wants a little bit of fantasy in their life, and to take a twist to the story we all knew as little kids.

I loved this book, I think it might have become my favorite book. I definitely felt a connection with the main character Juliet since her main conflict was dealing with her mothers loss, I know what's it's like to lose a parent. I couldn't put it into better words, she was so descriptive of how all different emotions dwell up inside you and anything can set them off. It's a bit odd in the beginning, because she "meets" someone at a cemetery and they begin anonymously e-mailing each other and talking about their deepest secrets. Without having the knowledge that attend the same high school.
- Anna B.

I thought that this book was very interesting, mostly because the charectors were very different in their opinions and such. The Hunger Games is about in what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem keeps its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl Tributes to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every person must watch as the children fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh survival against love. It's such a suspence filled and drama packed book, and I would recomend it to anyone, whatsoever. This was such a good book!
~Julia :)

The main character is around our age, and the language that the author uses makes the characters' ages believable and the story more relatable. Throughout the book, I was able to make inferences about what would happen and was right a lot of the time, but there were also times where there was a twist and it made the book even better.
- Jacqueline H.
4\21\2020

Seryna Payne 5/8/20
This is the third book in the Trials of Apollo series, (following the Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series) full of the same characters from his past books. This is an adventure of the god Apollo who got cast down from Olympus, being blamed for starting the war with Gaea and the giants. He has to face many trials of restoring Oracles, who have gone silent from telling the future ever since the war ended. Only when he restores these oracles can he return to olympus and regain his power as a god. But for now, he's just a mortal teen.
I think this book was very interesting, at times, it can get a bit slow, but it makes up for it by action filled scenes soon after. There is one more book in this series so far, but the last book has not been published yet, leaving me wondering if I will have to endure a terrible cliffhanger until this series can finish itself.

I really enjoyed this book. Before reading it, I had never heard George Washington Carver's name before, but after reading this book about his life story through someone he knew when he was alive, he's a new inspiration for me. He had such a positive affect on everyone around him and you had no doubt that he did everything through God. I also thought this book was extra good, considering its original copy was written in 1939!
- Lauren Taylor

Ok, so this one took me a while to finish because it is A LOT. There are so many different story lines going on, but she weaves them together so beautifully! It's hard to sum up, but it involves a brilliant gay college student named Zachary Ezra Rawlins, mysterious painted doors, falling in and out of time, swords, keys, bees, owls, and tongue-less acolytes who protect an enigmatic secret world of story. I mean, man, it's a ride...but this writer KNOWS words and how to knit them together to create pure magic. Highly recommend!
