During the year of 2015, Universal and Legendary released 7 films in collaboration with one-another. These films (in order of release): Blackhat, Seventh Son, Jurassic World, Straight Outta Compton, Steve Jobs, Crimson Peak and Krampus. This collaboration has released films across the genres of Horror, Action, Drama, and a Period film with Seventh Son. This shows that the collaboration isn't restricting themselves to one genre; instead spreading across multiple. These films were hit-and-miss at the box office so audiences may have been cautious going into the film.

Drive-by during filming
Seven days into filming a drive-by occurred in Compton. A group of men flashed gang signs outside of the Compton Courthouse at a passing car and resulted in a shooting. No cast or crew were injured however a pedestrian was shot. Filming resumed as normal. This is eerily similar to a quote from Ice Cube within the film: "Our art is a reflection of our reality."
