I thought it was cruel how Simon died because he tried to explain to the others about the beast, but the hunters beat him so badly that he died. It was even worse because Ralph, as a "supposed" chief, didn't do anything. It made me feel upset about how someone's instincts could over take their common sense or sense of humanity. I think that Ralph didn't try to stop them because Jack talked down to him about how he wasn't a chief. Ralph didn't feel as confident as an actual leader and Jack took over.

The death of Simon surprised me a made me sad. I think Ralph didn't do anything because he was caught up in being a savage for a moment and he didn't know what to do.

The death of Simon made me sad and disappointed in the boys. I think Ralph didnt stop it because he either didnt want to be the focus of the boys rage or he didnt realize that it was Simon who the boys were attacking.

The death of Simon made me lose my faith in humanity. Simon was the only one who knew about the beast and was only trying to tell them. I think Ralph didn't try to stop it because he also participated in the killing.

Simon's death was a horrible scene in the book because he was murdered by all the boys and the worst part was that they killed him thinking he was the beast and didn't even stop to think or check to make sure it was the beast. It made me upset and left me shocked because it shows how humans can actually be when their savage instincts take over. Ralph didn't try to stop it because he was in shock and some of his savage side took over also.

I thought the way they killed Simon was cruel and gross. Ralph probably did not try to stop them because he couldn't really do anything to save Simon without getting hurt by Jack and his hunters.

My reaction towards Simon's death was something I didn't expect. It made me feel mad because Simon didn't deserve to die, he was the reason things were sort of okay. I believe Ralph didn't stop it because he is slowly but surely converting.

The death of Simon was pretty gruesome. I thought it was crazy how the kids were so into killing something that they didn't see what they were hurting. I think Jack is most to blame since he started the separation of the group which led to this. I think Ralph didn't try to stop it because he too was hypnotized by all the chanting and his savage side got the best of him

B: he gave in to his primal feelings and didn't care that his friend was being murdered.

The death of Simon made me feel sorry for Simon because he didn't deserve the boys attacking him, ultimately leading to his death. I think Jack is most at fault in this situation because he is the one most driven by the desire of hunting and lead all the boys to attack Simon. I think Ralph didn't try to stop it because he was caught up in the action with the other boys and couldn't get himself to stop the situation.

The death of Simon was sad and unfair because he was only trying to help the boys and explain that their is no beast. It's sad that the boys came to the point where they are so into killing that they killed one of their "people". Ralf didn't try stopping it because Jack sort of took over the chief position, and he was caught up on the moment.

I believed that the death of Simon was disappointing because no one realized they were killing one of their fellow peers I believe that the most to blame would be Jack because everyone was following his footsteps when they were practically murdering Simon. I think that Ralph didn't do anything because the environment around him got to him to act uncivilized

when simon died i thought "no way, these kids are hella blind" given the fact that simon is a kid just like they are, and the way that they 'd described the beast earlier on in the novel. its difficult to believe that none of them stopped to even think or say. "Hey, you know this doesn't look like the beast that we'd all been afraid of for so long." If i were to blame anyone for being the main cause for Simon's death it would, aduhh, be Jack, he's the one who got all the kids/hunters fired up in the first place and he was the one who instigated the attack as well. but that doesn't mean that Ralph wasn't to blame either. he just stood on the side lines and didn't even say anything. he has eyes. just because you're a kid mean you're damn blind. I think he was in shock though.

I had a feeling that it was going to be simon because this book isn't some type of happy ending book. It got the chance to maybe escape the fear but it killed it off right away which is saw as a necessity

At first, I was shocked that they killed him. I was very disappointed when Simon died. I was looking forward to him revealing the true identity of the beast. Ralph didn't stop the others from killing Simon, because he was also caught up in the moment.

Simon's death was a tragic accident caused by the carelessness of the boys and it was mostly Jack's fault. I think Ralph didn't try stopping it because he wanted to get rid of the beast and he got lost in the moment with all the other boys.

It's sad that Simon died, especially because he was only ten. Now that he's gone, I don't think the boys will figure out that the beast is really just themselves.

I think that Simon shouldn't have died but I'm not really surprised because

I figured that the boys would eventually be so blinded by their savagery that

they wouldn't be able to use their rationality.
