Good morning, my name is Clio and I am in my 2nd year of studies of primary education. I have chosen this image of an aura as a representation of myself, my spirituality and holistic approach to wellbeing. Over the past months I have worked really hard to find a balance between my work, my studies, my personal life and looking after myself entirely. I hope to encourage and inspire my future students through embedding wellbeing and wellness into my classroom approach.

Currently my yard looks a little bit destitute, with super hot days, followed by weeks of rain, the environmental situation has not left much room to grow. As I looked out I spotted the usual suspect, weeds, but with closer inspection I was back to my childhood where these exact same weeds would grow on our curbside and myself and the kid neighbours would pull them out and create daisy chains. Even in the terrible conditions and even with the implied reality that they are a weed, something beautiful could still grow in these conditions.

I think this would be an amazing activity and school and could be used in a number of ways. Including morning meeting, short form writing, think, pair and share, and even show and tell.

I selected cans, bottles and a pizza box. I hope to use the cans to impersonate a small family, and the pizza box is almost a representation of their home. In the stop motion, it will be represented and justified clearly but is meant to represent how all family members can contribute to the recycling and overall limiting of waste in their household.

Week Three - Stop Motion Video

My stop motion video features a pizza box and a number of bottles/cans of various sizes. As mentioned in my week two post, the pizza box is included to emulate a house of sorts, and all the different/matching cans and bottles represent the members of the family. These are all extremely accessible recyclable items that would be easy to source in a future classroom for my students.

The idea of there being a lot of rubbish in our homes, and that we have the power to do something about it is key to this stop motion video. Additionally, it genuinely just shows how easy it is to source rubbish in our society.

I really enjoyed this activity and thought it was extremely different to any other I've had to do throughout my entire education.

Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup is an art piece that most people are familiar with in one way or another. It is incredibly famous and sparked a massive legal feud between the artist and the soup business for decades. but personally I did not know the reasoning behind the painting, I thought Andy Warhol must have loved Campbell's soup... but that is not the case. He was advised to paint something that was familiar, something that everyone knew, so he painted the soup. In my soundscape I have used the sound of a money till opening and closing, as well as physical money being heard. This is because when I think of Campbells soup I immediately think of the supermarket. Over the top of the backing, I have vocalised by thoughts when it comes to canned soup, being that it needs to be written down on the grocery list and what aisle it is in and what it is next to. This is my interpretation of a soundscape.

I used a protractor to draw accurate circles and coloured them in a pattern. The lines were deliberately put through at least 2 circles and no two blue coloured in areas are touching along a long side, only at corners.

As someone who does not regularly take part in visual arts activities, I really enjoyed this.

Week Nine - Animal Movement

As the only native Australian amphibian that came up in my research was a frog that is the creature I chose to engage with in this task. As I dance teacher, I recognised that all good art comes from emotion. So when I thought of how would I perform and show the audience that I was a frog, I really had to mentally put myself inside of the body of a frog. I imagined myself being small, slimy, with big bug eyes. I imagined hopping from one drain from the next and how amazing it felt to sit in the middle of the road when it's running and just get soaked in water.

These skills are something very important to art making but it must not be assumed that students understand this. The idea of "getting into one's character" is a great activity to be modelled by the teacher to assist the students in their studies. Additionally, dependent on the animal, it is likely most students will not have prior knowledge and this will need to be established, either through an informative boo or video. Ensuring that the activity is accessible to all students is imperative to providing an inclusive classroom.
