Before coming to UCA, I taught math, science, and robotics for 17 years at the high school level.  I primarily work with the STEMteach program, but I also work with STEM outreach where I support elementary and middle school classrooms.

I especially like teaching Models because it opens up your creativity in how you deliver your content in ways you might not have considered before.

My name is Brooke Harris, I started this program in January and I am hoping to get a life sciences teaching position for this upcoming school year. I would love to be a high school biology teacher, but I plan to add on a chemistry and physics certification as well. 
I have a MS in Psychology where I focused on genetics and Neurobiology. I managed and was lead research assistant in a neuroscience lab where I got to experience both teaching science and industrial science. I much prefer teaching science and I loved doing outreach to high school students so that is how I ended up here. 
I live in Russellville with my husband, our daughter, and our shih tzu. 

I am excited to learn more about models of teaching and hope to finish the class with the ability to develop lessons that can engage and educate my students.

I normally chill at Blue Sail Coffee in Conway while playing chess and studying German. That's where I'll probably be at come our first Zoom meeting! I have worked the last 2 years at the high school as a parapro/study skills teacher.  I have two amazing children and a fiancé that I adore with everything in me!!!  We also have 2 dogs.  Needless to say, we have a house full!!
