Introduction to PYP Exhibition

Welcome to the PYP Exhibition journey! During this month, students were introduced to the concept of the Exhibition, understanding its significance as the culminating experience of their PYP years. Teachers of PYP 5 conducted orientation sessions for both students to explain the Exhibition process.

The teachers of the The PYP Program were given an orientation regarding their role as mentors. It was explained that their role is to guide and support students throughout the inquiry process. The exhibition culminates in a final presentation, where students share their inquiry process, findings, and actions with an audience. It is an opportunity for students to take meaningful action, collaborate, and celebrate their learning journey.

As students embarked on their PYP Exhibition journey, they were assigned a home reinforcement task to explore the various ways that they can express themselves while also understanding the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They completed the tasks to deepen their understanding as part of the Exhibition process.

Choosing the TD Theme

Students chose the the TD Theme which they would like to centre their Exhibition on. The selected unit was - How We Express Ourselves!

Key Concepts Grid

Once students got into their groups with their assigned Grade 5 leads, they studied the TD theme, How We Express Ourselves, and brainstormed ways in which they can express themselves using their chosen medium of expression. Students then filled out the Key Concept Grid to help in the creation of the Central Idea and the Lines of Inquiry

Research Cycle

Students were taken through the research cycle by the PYP Coordinator as each student has to write a research paper based on their chosen topic within their groups as part of their exhibition.

Students were taken through the inquiry cycle and the TD Theme of How We Express Ourselves - An inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express and ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic.

PYP X Logo Creation

Students were assigned a task of creating a logo for their exhibition. In addition, students were tasked with creating individual logos for their groups as well.

Ethical Dilemmas

Each of the eight groups explored ethical dilemmas through case studies, analysing complex situations and presenting well-reasoned solutions. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions, justifying their choices and demonstrating empathy, critical thinking, and a strong sense of fairness in proposing the right course of action.

The Sports Physical group launched an initiative called Badminton with a Purpose-where they organised a fundraising match and donated sports supplies to an under-resourced school to share their passion for sports and service.

2. Sports Strategy - ACTION

The Sports Strategy group mentored Grades 1 and 2 in chess through interactive activities. They created and displayed posters on key sports strategies and rules at a local primary school to enrich sports education.

3. Literary Arts - ACTION

The Literary Arts students held a book drive for the Akanksha Foundation, supporting SDG 4: Quality Education. They donated books to promote learning for all and showed empathy in action. They collected over 100 books!

4. Melody and Movement - ACTION

The Melody and Movement Group created a WEP plan (a program at Indus School where students can choose an activity such as Chess, Drama, S.T.E.A.M, dance, art and so on) celebrating cultural music and dance as therapeutic tools for Gen Z, supporting SDG 3 by promoting well-being through creative expression.

5. Environment - ACTION

The Environment group organised a Plastic Donation Drive with EcoKaari, collecting bags and wrappers to promote eco-friendly habits. Aligned with SDGs 11 and 15, the initiative promoted sustainable waste management and land conservation.

6. Culinary Arts - ACTION

Supporting SDG: Zero Hunger, the Culinary Arts group created a recipe book to raise funds for ProjectIDLY, which provides meals to marginalized communities. They taught younger students, simple recipes and will be selling their dishes today to boost their impact.

As part of their PYP Exhibition, our learners showcased digital literacy by creating educational games, promoting sustainability, encouraging digital citizenship, and celebrating creativity with digital certificates.

8. Visual Arts - ACTION

The Visual Arts Group, along with a mindfulness coach, hosted an event called- Art from the Heart—a de-stressing session for teachers. They are raising funds for animal welfare through art sales and upcycled crafts, supporting SDGs Good Health and Well-being and Life on Land.

The PYP Exhibition blog is testament of the rationale of this significant milestone event in the journey of a PYP learner along with being an opportunity to showcase the work put in by our students over months.

This year again our PYP learners have attempted to write a research paper by showcasing agency while choosing a topic or concept and attempting to deep dive to know more about the same. The blog has all the research paper submissions for your reading. We are indeed very proud of all the submissions we have received and the genuine attempt from all our students.

This blog which is now a PYP milestone also houses the research papers of the previous batch, thus showcasing our continuous efforts towards skill building of our students.
