What makes this space distinct from others?

In the mornings, most people are just busy going to work or going to school. The environment is usually always quiet but crowded. Most people also keep to themselves and are listening to their music, looking outside the windows of the bus, or on their phones for the majority. This type of space mainly contributes to little or no social interactions.

Who has access to this space, and who does not? Why might that be? What kind of privilege, identity or other kind of markers does one need to access this space?

Everyone is welcomed onto public transit because again people are just trying to get to work or school on time. There really is no power dynamic in transit other than perhaps the bus driver who is in charge of dropping off people at their requested stops. People who also don't pay on the bus might be told something by the bus driver. As well as for the train, people have to pay but some do just jump over when theres no policemen patrolling which would be the type of surveillance within this space. The maintenance of the buses, train stations, and trains themselves is very low. They are usually dirty, unsanitary, and theres trash all over.

My personal experience, identity and background doesn't really influence my access to transit. The only thing would be that I can afford paying for transit the days I have to go attend class. The only bias I have about transit would be that I don't like when I see homeless people on the busses or on the trains. It makes the environment feel unsafe and there is also nothing being done to address the situation. Researching online could be helpful to uncover the history of transit as well as physically talking to the MTA staff.
