A campus resource that is helpful for the social well-being of BC's students is the many clubs and organizations that the school offers. The primary service is to connect people with things they have in common, such as interests or aspects of their identity. This service is avalible to any and every student, and the fees vary depending on the club/organization. It is pretty easy to find these, as there's posters displayed around the school, and BC's Instagram account is always giving updates. I think that this is really important because social health can be affected a lot during college, and it's important to establish connections and get people in your corner.

One campus resource that is helpful for the physical and environmental mental domains is the Bellevue Wellness Center. The primary service is to provide students with resources and activities to get them more involved in outdoor and physical activity. Everyone is welcome to these resources, but there is fees associated. Such as a $33.50 fee for using the fitness center per quarter, or fees for outdoor adventures, although there are resources to help with the costs. Having resources that encourage people to engage in physical activity, whether outdoors or in a gym, is essential for promoting overall health and well-being. Access to these resources helps individuals maintain physical fitness, reduce the risk of chronic illnesses like heart disease and diabetes, and improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety. Additionally, structured spaces like gyms and parks provide motivation, social interaction, and a sense of community, making it easier for people to stay consistent with their exercise routines.

A campus resource that is helpful is the physical activity not only benefits physical health but also improves mental well-being. It explains that exercise can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression by releasing endorphins, which are natural mood elevators. Additionally, physical activity promotes better sleep, improves self-confidence, and provides an opportunity for social interaction, especially through group activities like fitness classes or team sports.

This directly connects to the Bellevue Wellness Center mentioned in the images. The center encourages students to engage in physical activities such as outdoor adventures or fitness programs, which align with the article’s emphasis on movement for mental and physical health. While the article didn't address financial barriers like the fees mentioned in the images, it stressed the importance of finding accessible ways to stay active, such as walking or home workouts. Overall, the article reinforces the value of physical wellness as a critical part of overall health.

A campus resource that is helpful for the emotional wellbeing of students is the counseling center. The primary service is to provide students with help and advice regarding personal life challenges that may be affecting their academic performance. I think this resource would be useful since life can be stressful on its own, and then on top of it being a full time student is a lot for a person to take on. It can be helpful to have someone unbiased to go to talk about any personal issues that may be getting in the way of succeeding in both school and life in general.

A campus resource that seeks to help students in their emotional wellbeing is the "let's talk" portion of the counseling center. This is a drop in service for a consultation with a counselor. Because these are informal consultations, it can take a lot of pressure off of students who are seeking help. It is only 20 minutes for a student to talk briefly about what is going on and what they need help with in order to get matched with the proper form of care. This is great for students who have never looked for help and don't know where to start. This is also something that can help take the pressure off of finding the right fit for you as the consultation will provide you with the information on how to get the proper care fit for you. There is no fee for these consultations and will hopefully give you more confidence in your emotional wellbeing journey.

A campus resource that directly helped me was the counseling center, it helped me get ready for the classes I was going to take for the next quarter and helped reduce stress and anxiety if I didn't get into the class I wanted. This was quite important for me because it aimed for my concerns and it particularly helped people listen to your goals besides your own opinion on your matters. This also enables you to reach a common goal and takes time for your self into an easier outcome that is beneficial for your well-being. Being about the consult with your peers and people who know you also helps you to start realizing your true academic achievements and value which direction you go in life, reconfirming any supposing of worry. This helped him when I questioned my ability in engineering. But I realized that it's a skill issue and I need to be better, that's how I allowed it to be easier for myself during difficult times. This all culminates in the self-control of my educational journey. Finally, it didn't just help me successes, it helped me overcome expectations by evaluating areas of fixing.

A campus recourse that may benefit many students in their emotional well being is the counseling center. It has real people that you can talk to who understand the difficulty of being human and can help students whenever they are struggling with a situation in life, battling negative thoughts, or just need someone to talk to. I know that having a counselor helped me tremendously when I was struggling with having a sibling in the hospital, this proves that you can really come to them for any reason. Making appointments can be done in under 5 minutes online, or you can come in during drop in hours. Counselors are a great recourse to help calm the mind and feel relaxed about school and life.

A campus resource that is helpful towards social wellness is the student government and clubs that anyone can join with no fees. This resource is beneficial to help get more involved in the community. Some of the things it shows is discovering organizations which have a lot of different options. You can also browse student programs and involvement opportunities that also has a long list of groups you can join. You are able to see when all the events are in the student engagement section, once you click on any club or group it gives more information about it and how to join. One thing I learned from the website is that we have a student newspaper called the watchdog that gets posted weekly. It's really helpful to go to these things if you want to meet new people that have common interests, and it can help build confidence.

My summary of the essay I chose: The essay I chose was about social wellness. Social wellness matters because it promotes both mental and physical health. Social wellness involves having regular contact with friends, having strong connections with friends. The essay also stresses the importance of autonomy. Having a consistent social life has been linked to better health. The more people you know and speak to has been linked to less symptoms of depression, while having less connections with people has been linked to more depressive symptoms.

Since social wellness is heavily linked to your mental health, the counseling center is a good place to work on your social wellness with a professional. Counselors can support guidance and give you informed feedback. The counseling center is covered by tuition, so it's available to all BC students.

A campus resource I think is helpful for a student is the spiritual wellness counseling center. The primary service for this is finding out who you are and what you believe in. It’s not just about religion, it’s about feeling grounded and having a sense of purpose. Anyone is able to use this service! There is no fee for this, you can make an appointment with an advisor to talk about this or to ask questions by going to the Bellevue college website and making an appointment. When you focus on your spiritual well-being, it can help you handle stress better, stay calm during tough times, and feel more balanced overall. It also helps you grow as a person, giving you a clearer direction and making life feel more fulfilling.

A resource the campus has that I believe is beneficial to mental health is the mindfulness group. what this group's primary function is is to help those struggling mentally and keep them on the right track. They offer things such as personal mental health counseling, education/career counseling, group counseling, and much more. This is super helpful to struggling students as sometimes those resources they are close to or know well don't help out as amazingly as they could and having that option to have a personal or a group perspective when you're struggling or spiraling might be one of the most helpful things to a struggling student in the modern era.

The primary function of the course is to find your strengths and find out how you can apply them. These could apply to academic or personal goals and other areas where the strength can be used. While finding where you have strength you will learn where you lack and how you can grow. This course is available for any Bellevue College student. I believe there is an 8.00 distance fee for this class although I cannot see one stated. The way to get connected in through ctclink and signing up for it this quarter. I think this is a very similar class to this one but really fucoses on sources of motivation to improve goals in all realms of life. Also examining your strengths and values and finding motivation techniques to fully use that strength

It means understanding how you feel, dealing with stress, and being able to bounce back from tough times. To improve emotional wellness, try taking care of yourself by doing things that relax you, like exercising or meditating. It helps to talk to people you trust, ask for help when you need it, and find healthy ways to deal with difficult emotions, like writing or talking to a counselor.

I'm focusing on financial wellness and the BC resource that I'm telling you about is called handshake. Handshake is a service where you can sign up using your BC email and get access to jobs, internships, and career events. It works sort of like a job finding site, including features like profile building and following employers, but is directly associated with Bellevue College and is a more professional way to get opportunities that can help spark a career. This is in the financial wellness category because it lets you coordinate with employers that can help give you a job which increases your financial freedom with additional funds. A professionally sourced job can often be better than one found through other means, offering more pay or better benefits due to your connection with BC in the process. The financial wellness that comes from a good job can lift up many other areas of your life, reducing stress and letting you live more comfortably.

Emotional wellness:

The internet source I found on the topic of emotional wellness is from the CDC. They discuss strategies for boosting emotional well-being, such as better communication and mindfulness. One aspect of boosting emotional wellness is identifying and managing difficult emotions, which includes checking in with yourself, being kind to yourself, replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, and asking for support. Another strategy listed is expressing gratitude, which includes a gratitude journal, calling a loved one to tell them you’re grateful for them, and volunteering.

BC offers many resources for students, but a few that would assist with emotional well-being are the BC Counseling Center, the mindfulness group, and the classes offered, such as HD110 - Stress Management. HD110 – Stress Management is a class offered at BC that helps students identify and understand stress better so they can manage it effectively. Anyone can take this class, but it does cost money, whereas other resources for emotional well-being do not. This class aligns with emotional wellness because stress negatively impacts most people’s emotional wellness, and managing it can help reduce other issues.

Emotional Wellness

The article “Emotional Wellness Toolkit” from the National Institutes of Health defines emotional wellness as the ability to cope effectively with life’s stresses, adapt to change, and build meaningful relationships. It explains that emotional wellness involves recognizing and expressing emotions, practicing self-care, and being open to both joyful and difficult experiences.

The article encourages habits like daily gratitude, stress-reduction techniques (like mindfulness or breathing exercises), and building strong social connections. It emphasizes that emotional wellness is an ongoing process and looks different for everyone. This directly relates to college students who may feel overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure of themselves—reminding us to check in with our emotions and seek help when needed.

The BC Counseling Center offers free mental health services for all students, including therapy, crisis counseling, and emotional support. It aligns closely with the emotional wellness dimension by helping students manage stress, process difficult feelings, and find tools for mental and emotional growth. This resource gives students a safe space to feel heard and supported—something that’s especially important during busy or overwhelming quarters.

I would consider using the Counseling Center this quarter to stay grounded and manage stress while balancing school, work, and relationships. I’d also recommend it to a friend who might be going through something difficult but doesn’t want to feel alone—because emotional wellness deserves just as much attention as academics.
