Today we again came to see the most wonderful views and again got to realize the wide diversity of Guadeloupe´s nature. Everything in a most convenient and beautiful package! The session on the beach consisted of the Master Chef of Guadeloupe cooking course, finishing the dream catchers (Thank you!) and listening to each other´s homework: activities that develop key competences. It came out how many different things you can include into your international projects. Just your imagination

After having been to the very far end of the island admiring the landscape and the rough sea we found a perfect place in the shade to have a little cooking class. Cooking is always a good team activity and making Caribbean Food together was no exception. Even a simple carrot salad tastes different not to speak of the dog sauce and the fish that looked very similar to the ones I had seen when snorkelling a couple of days before.

For the thinking part we were all well prepared and could profit from our split team work on key competences. Everything goes round in a circle and lose ends meet forming the perfect idea of implementing international learning into our school curriculums. I am almost looking forward to going back to Bremen to try out everything I have learnt, moreover bringing home a self made dream catcher that will protect me in many ways.

Today it was interesting to listen to our course mates’ presentations, precisely about the key competences of international learning.

The exchange in the group was open and helpful.

Once more I enjoyed my talks with Michel who gave me new and deeper insights to the Guadeloupe culture and his personal way of life as a Guadeloupan.

We had a very good lunch – special thanks to Rita and Michel. I’m happy that Rita showed us how to make a sauce chien by ourselves.

What a landscape! The last day of our course began with a spectacular scenery of Point des Chateux. While the sea was rushing, we walked to a high scenic spot, where we could admire some amazing places. Rita had chosen us again classroom from the lovely beach. There we had our discussion of key concepts, which gave me many good examples what are the possibilities for example to do with our pupils. We actually have quite many different things which we are already done in our school.

How can you connect people and share cultures? Cooking! I really liked when we were all busy preparing our lunch. It was almost as if we were a kind of an unusual family. The lunch was delicious and we can bring home some recipes.

Sharing ideas about key competences was very inspiring. I heard many wonderful ideas, which we can use in our own classrooms. What I found the most useful for my school was the document with a clear explanation of the role of the school international coordinator.

The message of the day: Inspire and be inspired.

Today`s session was about the key competences, the competences which all individuals need for personal fulfilment and development, social inclusion and employment. We heard about eight key competences and the activities in touch with them. I myself was struggling with the learning to learn part which is in our curriculum `Thinking and learning to learn`. Because it`s transfersal nature, I found it difficult to point out any international activities related to it. Fortunately the others had lots of good ideas. I also noticed that `the obvious` is good to say aloud because one`s “obvious` may be something new to the others.

The new `classroom` at the beach near the land ending was perfect place to settle down with the tasks and to have our last common `beachmeal`. It was nice to be part of the kitchencrew. The meal became even more meaningful this way. M grilled delicious fish to us and R taught us a new receipt with grated carrots. That receipt is going to Finland with me.
