In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell sent the first words by telephone. After he wanted to make the first long distance call. While he was doing that he was talking to his assistant who was 2 miles away. Then all over the United states people could call  in 1915. After that service from the Atlantic Ocean began in 1927.
