Personal connection: 
I can relate to Jonas being nervous when a new stage in his life was going to happen. When I was in grade six, I was nervous about starting middle school, but I was also looking forward to it. Once I started it, I enjoyed it very much, and I was glad to be there.

Answer: Because ancestors have chosen "Sameness", which is a belief in which everything is the same, and every feels and thinks and feels the same. Ancestors have chosen these rules.

Thoughts: 
I personally believe that controlling humans and planning their lives isn't the best way to go. We should be able to make our own decisions. I still agree on the fact that their should be rules, but is strongly believe that we should still make our own decisions. The choosing of our job for example, there should be a placement test. Based on your answer they recommend you a profession, and you don't have to take it if you don't want to. I also feel that their parents want their kids to feel a certain way. The children use words that they, themselfs don't even know what the mean. The meaning of feelings doesn't exist anymore. I agree with the requirements of volunteer hours from a young age. It teaches children that they should be contributing to the community. The positive of this is that children will not be doing this as a chore but more as a habit. The last thing that really shocked me, was that the general population doesn't know where the releasing room is or what is "being released". If we have done something wrong should we at least have the right to know, what is the punishment?

- Do you think that the ceremony of twelve should take place at 12 or at another age? Why? Answer: I think that the ceremony of twelve should take place at age 15 because, children will be more consious of what is happening. It would then be the ceremony of 15.
- Do you think the elders respect the privacy of the citizens, or do you think they are invading their privacy? Why or why not? Answer: I think that they should let people make their own descisions and think what they want to think, withouth being watched.

There is so much hype regarding this ceremony, this is not another part of the book, it has a very significant section. I think that Jonas is going to be very special, in a sense that he has abilities that other people don't possess. I know this because in chapter three Jonas can see a weird form of the apple while it is in mid air. I can conclude from this event, that Jonas may be chosen to be a high level member in his society such as an elder. Maybe those azure eyes do have something really special inside them?

- In page 73 it says that no doors are every locked in the community. Why do you think this is? Answer: They have eliminated all the privacy aspect of life so people can only do good things. They should never be caught doing something bad.
- What do you think this speaker posseses? Answer: It posseses the power to talk to the secretary, and to request anything that is nescessary.
- What powers does the Giver posses?? Answer: The Giver has the power to transfer a memory to anyone he wants.

- The community has an unscheduled holiday, and Jonas hasn't been taking his pills for four weeks now.
- Jonas was riding around in his bike and he comes to a stop. Friends of his age are playing a pretend game of war. He is saddened because he knows the struggles and pain that real war can cause.
- Jonas stops the game, and he tries his best not to cry. Asher apoogises to him for playing war games. Fiona offers him to if he wants to bike around the river with her, but he says no.
- Gabriel starts to walk and he is developping rapidly.
- Lily, like Jonas, starts to question the life "elsewhere".

- Is this community really a utopian society if people lie to each other every day, various times? Answer: They try very hard to chive sameness, whitch is their so called utopian society, but in my opinion it isn't.
- How long do you think they can shield the population of this community rom the real truth? Answer: I think that they won't be able to shield the community from the truth, and Jonas will tell the community what is really going on.

- Jonas hesitates, but in the end he asks to see the realease of one of the identical twins.

- What are your thoughts on this form of release? Answer: I personally believe that they are trying to control the population at it's best, even if it means killing peopl, which I find very cruel.
- Would you like to live in this community after what we have learned? Why or why not? Answer: No because this community hides the truth from it's citizens, and I would like to make my own choices, which in this book isn't possible.
