For the media report, I decided to focus on the artist XXXTENTACION who is commonly referred to as X for short. In my analysis of the genre, I talk about X's video, "Look At Me! ", which highlights the topic of black prejudice in the present as well as covering the subject of discrimination of police officers to minorities, especially African Americans. This song like few others, for example, Logic another recent artist who recently released a song about suicide prevention, talk about current issues that affect many people of different races and ages. Unlike Logic though, X has faced much criticism for his violent behavior and mental stability, much of this correlating to allegations of abuse to his ex-girlfriend. In many respects, the genre of rap has evolved over the recent years shifting towards a more mainstream genre, which is able to reach much more people but in doing that, has caused many recent songs and artists to lack a certain credibility and seriousness to the issues that they try to cover in the music, however this does not mean that the genre as a whole has become more superficial but in a sense, it has become harder to find an artist in the genre who is credible and able to achieve the goal of talking about the many issues that our society still faces such a suicide, prejudice, and violence, like previously stated.
