The importance of visiting O'Brien is that even though in the past Julia and Winston have TALKED about being rebellious, now they are taking that into action. Which is a whole other ball game. In the book it always states how they could be killed for THINKING anything bad, but now Julia and Winston aren't just thinking bad things, they are be prepared TO DO bad things. On page 177 in the book it states "We believe that there is some kind of conspiracy, some kind of secret organisation working against the party, and that you are involved in it. We want to join it and work for it. We are enemies of the Party. we disbelieve in the principles of Ingsoc. We are thought-criminals. We are also adulterers. I tell you this because we want to put ourselves at your mercy. If you want us to incriminate ourselves in any other way, we are ready." This shows Winston and Julia's readiness to do illegal things. This changes the book entirely and shows we are about to tread into darker waters. Also later in the book when O'Brien asks Winston and Julia what they are ready to do, they answer "Yes" to everything without hesitation(except for the one when he asked if they where willing to be separated)...they are both out for blood...

When the two finally visit O'Brien's apartment, two things are done. Finally, Winston can understand what those dreams meant at the beginning of the book. When Winston told him they would meet in the dark. They have met, and while O'Brien has shared some information with him, he's still "in the dark". Now, he and Julia are able to finally put actions with their words. They've wanted to do something rebellious for so many days, and now the plot has changed from wanting to rebel, to taking part in a rebellion.

The importance of visiting O'Brien is clear that now they aren't just threatening to take action, but they actually are. This can be supported by their meeting about how they want to fight. I think this will enhance the plot and make the characters start to recognize that they have to do something to get the problem changed.

The significance of visiting O´Brian at his apartment was that it showed and allowed Winston to understand that brotherhood was real. This encourages Winston to take action as he has always hated ¨big brother¨ and now they have a group they can actually rebel with. In the book it elaborates on the brotherhood and how there is no way to identify one another. the main significance of this encounter is that they are no longer talking about how they could take action they will now be taking action.

The moment that Winston meets with O‘Brien is a very important period of time in the book. At the time, Winston believes that O'Brien is a member of the party who has special rebellious thoughts like him. In the book, it talks about how Winston had been dreaming of the day that he could meet this member of the Party, and is finally getting the chance. This is important because it shows that Winston is using his hero to try and become a better rebel himself. Winston knows that the more he is with O’Brien, the more the two rebels can work together for the greater good of humanity.

The visitation of O'Brien is very significant, Julia and Winston always talk about being rebellious and breaking the rules, but now they are putting their words into actions. They are now planning their rebellion by joining the rebel party. This is important because it shows how Winston is gaining more self confidence in himself by trying to become a rebel and by fighting big brother who controls their lives.

I think that the moment Winston meets with O'Brien is important because this shows that Winston is ready to defy Big Brother. Winston has been thinking about a connection with O'Brien for so long, and now he has a chance to really understand the connection. Winston has always been alone in his ideas of hate towards the government. Now, he has the chance to discover others who are in the government. It also shows that Winston has so much trust towards him, and it could maybe cause him problems.

Throughout the book Winston and Julia have thought about bad things and again now they are going to actually pursue these actions. Winston thinks that O' Brien had thoughts about being rebellious just like himself. Winston now sees that he isn't the only one who feels and has these thoughts of rebellion.

I think visiting O'Brien at his apartment is a very important part in this book. It really adds so much to what is going on in the book right now. It shows that they are now not only talking about their plans but putting them into actions. They know that it is their time to take action against Big Brother. There are many people who also feel the same way. They want change and they want to take action against the government to show that they also have power by coming together. Going to his apartment he has put himself out there and has made it public that he is against Big Brother. He better trust O'Brien because he could easily turn him in.

Now, they actually have a group to take action and rebel. Winston couldn't do anything because he was independent, but now he has a group. However, Winston could get in trouble because he may not be able to trust O'Brien. He trusted that O'Brien had rebellious feelings. If he doesn't, then O'Brien could just go and turn him in.

The importance of O'Brien visiting the apartment was the fact that Winston and Julia are now taking their hatred and their discontent with the government and they are going to put that into action. On page 23 it says" His pen had slid
voluptuously over the smooth paper, printing in large neat
capitals—DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER DOWN WITH
BIG BROTHER DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER DOWN
WITH BIG BROTHER DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER
over and over again, filling half a page." By O'Brien coming to the apartment Winston has laid himself out for O'Brien and given his complete trust to O'Brien. He gave his trust to O'Brien and there is no going back. It was done. If O'Brien told on Winston then Winston had dug his own grave by bringing O'Brien there.

Even though there is a threat of being killed for their views. Winston and Julia want to be criminals and go against the government because they do not believe in the beliefs of the government and they want to be different. Once he went to the apartment it was the end of just the rebellious thoughts he was going to put his thoughts into actions.

The event of visiting O'Brien in his apartment holds such significance in 1984 because at this point of the book Julia and Winston reach a turning point, after this they can not change the events that will occur in response to the meeting. Once Julia and Winston meet with O'Brien they are putting a target on their backs because O'Brien can easily turn them in. I do not think they should trust O'Brien not to turn them in but they do trust him because he says he also wants to rebel.
