I predict that cultural intolerance would keep increasing with the increase in cultural blending and therefore in future, cultural intolerance will be prevalent. When we consider from the historical time like the Japanese interference until the present day(Sri Lankan Buddhists) situation, this issue has been playing a major role in the society. People keep dividing themselves based on the religion or culture they share although there is the other group that readily blends with the new culture. So this is a continuous process and so can not be stopped completely.

Aurangzeb, the last great Mughal Emperor of central and southern India, did not allow the Hindus to follow their customs and taxed the people. He took them as slaves in the last decade of the 17th century. This example explains how people were forced to belong to the rulers culture.

The partition of India took place on the 14th of August 1947 when Pakistan was made a nation with Muslims population. This was not easy as about million were killed in this struggle for a new nation called Pakistan. The Muslims and Hindus not being able to follow one common culture was the reason behind this partition.

In Japan, right from the mid century, there was the control of the emperor over the religious issues of people and those that disobeyed were persecuted or forcibly converted. This was because of the overpowering of the ruler of the country.

In September 2013, a Shia Muslim family near Baghdad were attacked leading to death of 16 people. Between that the 2 divisions of Islam, there is still a war happening around the world. As a result, these attacks are made.

3. Buddhists in Myanmar Burn Muslim Homes

Buddhists in Myanmar have burned Muslim homes last month as they want to show their power over minority in their country. Though, the minority Muslims and Christians are permitted to live in the contry, issues arise when they claim or ask for their rights in the country.

4. Indonesia’s rising intolerance

In Indonesia, there are lots of attacks on nightclubs and bars in the recent years by the Muslims who think that the minority groups should follow their orthodoxy culture.

The attack on a mosque by the Buddhist crowd at Sri Lanka is not something that is happening only in the present but incidents like this have been happening in several parts of the world. The only difference is the group that is doing this but basic reason behind is it the in ability to accept or blend completely with another culture. In this case, it is the Buddhist who have revealed their true selves.

Cultural intolerance is something that is totally negative and if not monitored it would live a serious impact on our future generations too. So, there is an urgent need to check such incidents happening around the world to avoid wars that may be caused due to this issue. When we observe keenly we would realize that most of the violence that is taking place around our world has one reason, that is cultural intolerance. So, after realizing this factor, each of us have to take up responsibility to make sure that we bring about balance in the society by breaking down the cultural barriers around the universe.
