The geologic era that happened before was the Paleozoic era and the following era was the Cenozoic era. There were three different periods in this era. Northwestern movement of North America resulted in the collision of the western edge of the North American Continental plate with a chain of volcanic islands, which then caused geological fragments that were significantly unlike each other in stratigraphy, paleomagnetism, and paleontology joined the continental crust. North America is where Russia/Europe is today. A monkey puzzle tree looks like a pine tree. There are some similar things to it but there are also some different things. They are a little droopy but they are common today. Pine trees have the sharper brussels. Yews are probably something you haven't heard of. They are still common today but you may not recognize it. It is curved all around and doesn't grow anything on it. It is one of those plants that could be in the present.
