Summarizing that theory is easy for me, as this is pretty much how I was raised. Given instruction on what and how to do something, the result of my actions, reward or punishment. It fits the sayings like F... Around, and Find Out; Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes There are consequences for your actions; choice is yours. This theory is the belief that Good Consequences (Rewards) are more effective to teach than Bad Consequences (Punishments). Simply choose wisely when you act.

How we comprehend events, is what drives our actions in response. How we think affects our responses to the world around us. So, if we think positively about an event, we will react in a positive way. Yet, if we have a time when we are negative in our reactions, this comes from negatively thinking about the situation. It also believes we can change our negative thinking by trying to view it in a more positive light.

This one breaks down the needs in our lives to what really matters in driving the next step. Will all have needs in our lives, from Basic Needs to our own Self-fulfillment Needs. If we don't get our Physiological needs and Safety needs, we cannot strive for our other needs until we have obtained them. Basic needs are the center of our lives; without them, we don't exist; they have a tremendous effect on the rest of the aspects of our well-being and our actions.

In this theory, we find that it is believed our relationships are what encourage or discourage our behavior, motivation, and learning. As social creatures we crave feedback, the type of feedback we receive from those in our family, friends, work, and academic circles are what give us our motivations to do things, and our actions. What people you have around you has great influence on your life, if all you hear is negativity, that is all you will see. Being encouraged to do things in a positive way makes you more apt to strive to do those things.

For me, Behavioral Theory is the best way to support my motivation. I have been a great influence on my life so far, knowing the consequences of my decisions and actions has guided me through my life. Examples of past and present ways it had helped: in the past when I decided to join the military instead of going off to play football in college, it helped me fulfill a childhood dream and provide a great life for myself and my family. Presently, truly sitting down and considering the full consequences of choosing to get my bachelor's degree in the field of Music Production is fulfilling a lifelong dream of doing what I love: music. Because I know it is and was the correct path for my life based on the consequences, rewards, or results of my actions and motivations.
