Relato de Investigação #1 (week 18)

In the first classes of the last semester we talked a little bit about PFI, at first it seemed like a very interesting project but at the same time really scary. Now that we are in the second semester, it doesn't seem so scary. We saw examples of PFI from other years, and talked about things we must take in consideration while doing research in schools, especially our relationship, as researchers, with the people that work there and the school itself. After this, the idea of producing this research is no longer scary but I'm sure it's going to be challenging, especially writing.

Relato de Investigação #2 (week nineteen)

In this week we talked a lot about action research. In the beginning it was a little confusing, especially because it seems to be a very wide concept. We watched a video and read a text about it, and it started to become more clear. The main thing, to me, was the deconstruction of theory and practice as separate things, and that one is more important than the other. This idea of codependency between theory and practice is really important to PFI, because when we think of it this way we see that we are not going down to vist schools and investigate to find problems, or as these saviors to solve problems. We are going there to learn and work together as university and school to built knowledge.

During this time we also started the bureaucratic part of the project. I thought it would be harder to be honest, but maybe I'm saying this because it's in the beginning. Still what most concerns me is when it's time to write and put all these things we are learning in action.

During this week, besides bureaucratic work, we also discussed a lot of things about PFI, and one of the things that most caught my attention was the fact that we are only deciding on what to research on the schools after visiting them. This was one of my main concerns, because when you think of schools there are so many interesting topics to talk about specially because it's a very diverse place where many different people come together daily and do many different things, it's not only studying or teaching there is so much happening all in the same space and we can look at these various aspects from so many perspectives. Therefore, I believe that coming up with a question to research will still be complicated, but it's easier to do it knowing the context of where we are trying to find the "answers"
