In this week's Padlet we will be discussing the importance of linking and exclusivity across all musical forms. This is an important element because of its ability to be widely used. It's commonly found and used across a variety of music and is uniquely formed. It is important because it can take a simplistic song and develop it into a arranged, structured art work of music. By taking a simple process or beginning and allowing it to manufacture into more complex musical pieces it can greatly effect the end result of all kinds of music. The repetition development is the essential part of linking and allowing the music to come together. I agree that this musical element can intensify music. Ratliff brings out the example of Gabriel Faure's piano quintets. This example brings out the element by having multiple dimensions and adding the varying movements. Another example would be Marian Hill's "
Down". Here the starting keys added to the notes that come in peaks throughout the song are a fine example of linking.
