This is a difficult choice, but I would bring either The Grapes of Wrath or Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee or The Hobbit. I could read TGW a million times and find something new and I love Steinbeck's use of imagery. Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee is the first book that showed me the story no one teaches in school. The Hobbit--it's fantasy and my first "big book" gift. I love the adventure in it.

If I had to choose one book to take with me on a desert island, it would be The Tale of King Arthur by T.H. White. That is a book I've read time and time again and it never gets old. I love books that have a fantasy aspect, the worlds authors can create are endless.

What I can think of right now, I would bring Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds and American Born Chinese. Long Way Down illustrates the reality for students and how their lives outside of the classroom impacts their lives. American Born Chinese is my favorite graphic novel that shows the reality for students and the stereotypes they encounter each day. The images are extremely powerful.

If I were to bring a book to a desert island, I would bring Pride and Prejudice. I think the book is a classic that makes me nostalgic for when I first started to love reading. Also it is a story that I could read a million times and not get bored with.

If I had to choose one book to bring with me on a desert island, I would probably choose The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I love the language in the book, and I feel there's a deeper lesson beyond drinking a potion to rid yourself of evil.

Off the top of my head, I think I might bring the book 1984. It's jam packed with things to think about that you could pick up on every time reading it and gives you a lot to think about. Though a lot of it will elicit thoughts of dread so for psychological health it might not be great stranded on an island

I think I would choose my giant riverside Shakespeare just because it has so many things scribbled in the margins and so many memories and good stories attached. If the riverside is cheating since there is more than one story I would pick The Pull of the Stars by Emma Donoghue because I'm doing the thesis on it and I love the things it says about womanhood and Ireland
