This could be something that happened between you and a friend, a roommate, a family member, or someone at school. Write about the situation and the different ways you and the other person understood the situation.

Answer :
I stay in a boarding house in Malang with my friend who is from Malang. I usually go back to my home town in Kediri once every two weeks. When I just came back to my boarding house, I wanted to wash my clothes. Then, my friend said to me “It’s easier for you, if you wash your clothes using “kaleng”. I got confused because what I understand as “kaleng” is a can. I thought that it doesn’t make sense to wash clothes using a can. So, we had a little debate about it. Then, she pointed out the big pail as the stuff that she meant. I said to her “It is not kaleng, but it’s ember.” She told me that in her language, she called it kaleng. In the end, she and I realized that we have differences in vocabulary, even though we both use the same language. After that, we often discussed vocabulary in our own city to avoid misunderstandings like that.

2. What are the “rules” for conversation in your native language? Who speaks first? How do you show someone that you are being polite? Is age important? How are the rules for conversation in English different from conversation rules in your own language?

Answer:
When they start the conversation, they have to greet nicely such as "good morning", "good afternoon" and anything else. In Indonesia's rule of conversation, anyone can start the conversation regardless of age, but they have to use positive words and make a good conversation topic.
