Every time some one told Benetha. To change her mind about being a doctor because she was a woman or told her to just marry the rich guy who don't make her happy.She said no even when her brother gave all of her school money to the man for a store. She still had plans to become a doctor some ho. In most of the book "A Rasin in the sun . Benetha never asked anyone for help. Even when she was dating a rich guy who could get her anything she wanted.The only this Benetha asked for in the story is money for school. That is how Benetha is independent.

This relates to Benetha because in the book Benetha wants to  become a doctor. Most people dont believe she can do it and tells her she should become something else like a nurse as her brother stated like her brother.
