"Always" by Irving Berlin when he sings, "I'll be loving you always," is very meaningful to me. My grandmother unfortunately passed away over the summer due to cancer. I chose the song " After the Storm" by Kali Uchis. Out of all of the lines, the one that really caught my eye was the line "So if you need a hero, just look in the mirror. No one's gonna save you now, so you better save yourself." I find this line to be so powerful and really meaningful because it really portrays the fact that you are the only person you can rely on. And that the only domain that will stay with you even when times get rough is you and yourself. This line really makes you understand that you are your own rock.

"Money Game pt 3" opens with the lyrics "Let me tell you a story about a boy named Jimmy. One years old and his first words were mine, mine gimme". Soon after we hear "22, he learns that truth is just an obstacle to wealth. If you manipulate the data, then the lie will sell itself". Then, towards the end of the song, we hear "Let me tell you a story about a boy named Jimmy. He was 40 and he cursed the words mine, mine gimme". This shift, demonstrated throughout the song, struck a chord in my brain because it does an excellent job of showing how today's society has turned into a race for wealth and power, and how in the pursuit of them we lose sight of our moral duties as people. Something I pride myself on is making the ethically correct decision, even if it hurts me in the short term because I know I have an obligation to do the right thing. I mentioned the lyrics I did because they do the best job of illustrating the way the pursuit of money can force one to sacrifice their morals, and regret it later on in life. That being said, I could have picked any set of lyrics from the song and made the same point. This song is one of the most intelligent and accurate works of art I've ever listened to, which ultimately is why I chose it.
