<title>Tyson and I made poppies and soldiers and put them in the windows. We listened to the last post early in the morning. We looked at poppies, while we were biking around the town. Even though we do not stand beside them, we will not forget them.</title>

<title>Mum and I made a poppy wreath and this is how to make it. First get some cardboard and cut it into a circle. Then get glue and put it on the cardboard. Next put the leaves on it. Then make the poppies, it’s easy. First get an egg carton. Then cut the egg slots out. Next paint on the inside and outside of the egg slots. Finally glue gun the poppies to the leaves. We hung it on the fence to remember the people in the war. </title>

<title>ANZAC day is usually celebrated with the country coming together at war memorials throughout NZ. The country stops and remembers the soldiers who fought for our freedom. This year ANZAC day fell during our LEVEL 4 lockdown for COVID 19, so we could not gather and remember as we normally would. Tell what you and your family did to mark this special day:We remembered the soldiers by having a meal and celebrating with Nana and Pop. We listened to Anzac Ted and made ANZAC crafts. I ate lots of Anzac biscuits. We made peach and feijoa Anzac crumble and ate it allllll up.</title>

<title>Usually we would go to Tuapeka Mouth old school for the service and then we go out for Dad&#39;s birthday, but this year we did it differently. At 6.30am Dad woke us up to go and put the flag up at Tuapeka Mouth. And then we came back home and celebrated my Dad&#39;s birthday. He turned 43, and we had a chocolate cake and lunch with Nan and Grandad.</title>

<title>On ANZAC day we climbed up the wet, grassy hill behind our house in the dark. Maggie came too. She didn&#39;t care much because she did not know it was ANZAC day so she just wandered around the place. At the top of the hill we set up our chairs and picnic mat and we waited in the dark for the sun to rise. We had a delicious milo then Gene and I played around with Maggie for a bit. We watched the sunrise. We sang the New Zealand and Australian national anthems and the UK&#39;s too. We listened to The Last Post on our UE Megaboom. After the sun had risen, we went down the hill with me carrying the mat, Dad carrying the chairs that we sat on, and Mum carrying the poppies.</title>

<title>On ANZAC day Mum made a poppy with wool, we walked through the paddock to the Tuapeka West Hall. On the big gates at the Tuapeka West Hall are written lots of names. They are names of local men that died in the war. We put Mum’s poppy up on the plaque at the gates. When we got home me and mum made anzac biscuits, the biscuits all melted together when we cooked them. They turned into one big square biscuit. They were still yummy. We also coloured in the pictures of poppies printed out from my drive.</title>

<title>For ANZAC day we made poppies. We made three different types. The first one is made with a red feather, a green popsicle stick and a black pom pom. The second one is made out of red and black pompoms and a green mach stick. The third one is made out of a red pipe cleaner, a black pom pom and a green popsicle stick. My favourite one is the feather poppy. </title>

<title>For Anzac day we made poppies with Grandad when mum was at school. We put them at the arches with a sign that says “we remember them”. Grandad put a cross with my great great grandad’s name on it there because he was in the war.At home we listened to the trumpet and we did a minute silence and that was hard. We put poppies on our great great grandad’s names online. Mum and I made Anzac biscuits and they are really yummy. We dressed a picture up as a real soldier and we talked about the war a lot. Next year mum wants to take us to a dawn parade. </title>

<title>On Saturday it was ANZAC day. We watched a movie. It was called “They shall not grow old.” I learned lots of stuff, like the soldiers had to walk in big trenches which were deeper than men&#39;s heads. I saw lots of people get shot and also horses got shot which was yuck because whoever got shot was tipped into a trench. Lots of soldiers got foot rot and lice in their hair. If I was in the war I would be a nurse.</title>

<title>I started ANZAC day by getting up at 5:50am. I woke up everybody in my house and we went outside to stand at the mailbox with our neighbours. Our mailbox was decorated with big red poppies that we had made the day before from resusable shpping bags. It was very dark and quiet. At 6am Mr Rishworth played the Last Post loudly on his stereo and the sound filled our street. It was very eerie to stand listening to the music. When it stopped we stood silently for a moment and then we could the bagpipes that Mr Patterson was playing down at the arches. His song was beautiful. Later in the day we made ANZAC biscuits. </title>

<title>Anzac day was just a normal day but we did celebrate and we made ANZAC biscuits. It was a bit weird not having ANZAC day at school . It is a bit weird not going to school and seeing everyone wearing poppies. We remembered the people that went there as we walked in the bush at home. Then there were gunshots as we played in the creek and it sounded like war. </title>
